  • Each year Richie's Spirit Foundation awards $5,000 in college scholarships to three graduating high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, and initiative in school and community affairs and merit academic achievement. Since inception, RSF has awarded more than $30,000 in college scholarships to deserving applicants. The program receives over 2,500 applications each year. Richie Herskowitz died in October 2007 of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) related causes. He was just short of finishing his senior year of high school. Richie lived his life with a positive spirit no matter what obstacles got in his way.

    The applicant must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident currently enrolled in a US - accredited high school who will graduate in the spring of the year the scholarship is awarded. Must plan to attend a vocational schools, community college, or four-year college full-time during the academic year; Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent); Must have taken challenging courses throughout their high school career and demonstrated strong leadership roles within their community.
