• Once you factor in generous aid packages (two out of three first-year students receive financial aid), the University of Michigan is one of the most affordable public colleges in the nation. Our students represent a wide range of income levels — showing our commitment to making higher education accessible and affordable. We encourage you to reach out directly to U-M's Central Financial Aid Office if you'd like to learn more about the cost of attendance and financial aid opportunities for out-of-state students.

  The Ross scholarship selections are based on criteria set by our donors and average around $5,000. Many scholarships are need-based, so we encourage U.S. citizens and permanent residents to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Ross Financial Aid office posts scholarship opportunities throughout the year.
