My name is Averi Pangallo. I have always been interested in politics and current events and enjoy researching and developing my personal opinions on controversial issues. In today's world, political standpoints shape the way people go about their daily lives and have had an obvious impact on how one can view the character of another. Though I don't believe politics should change the way you see a person, it is most definitely visible in today's society. As a sophomore in high school, I am enrolled in AP United States History. Though a challenge, it has opened my eyes to the importance of voting and voicing one's opinion as it can make a huge impact. I am applying because I am someone who deeply cares for our democracy and wants to encourage to vote. I believe that people should not be afraid or be intimidated to speak up about the problems and injustices within our country. It’s important to vote for the candidate that stands for your belief rather than by popularity. Yup, I applied for this scholarship. Mostly for the reason that I'm a freshman and wanted to start off my feature very early without any issues, and wanting to get funding from websites & scholarships like these. Mostly started off in 5th grade watching history Videos, Islamic Age, WW2 & WW1, and current politics today. Right after this I entered Middle School with the commitment to attend a College that will help me with Computer Science, but changed right after watching shows about Politics, videos relating Impeachment Trials, January 6th, 2021 these all changed my view on Politics and wanted to major in Political Science right after, emailed colleges, Professors, PHD Students & Students from the college of Columbia, Yale, Harvard for their advice and most of them said you should apply for Scholarships and here I am today, 9th grade getting ready to apply for multiple scholarships. In the feature right after I'm done with graduate school, plan on working in the Political Science department working analysis and then running for multiple seats or even a political commentator.

Number one mainly being that I cannot afford the college I want to attend, and second because I live in a very conservative "Trump 2020" town in New Jersey. It is very hard to voice my opinion when I am constantly being talked down too. This scholarship gives me the opportunity to speak up instead of sitting back and listening! I am applying for this scholarship because I have a passion for politics and am very strong-minded which comes with great ideas and views that I would like to express. I feel that this is my chance to say how I feel about the democratic party without people knowing who I am personally so there is no pre-judgment whether that be positive or negative. I would like my score to be dependent on my opinion and presentation and am glad that it will be solely based on those things. Also, I am applying for this scholarship because my family is not able to pay for me to go to college, and even if they were I would not put them through those expenses or stress as they have enough to deal with between me having mental health issues, my father being in a nursing home that is paid for monthly (and has become more expensive due to covid-19), my 6-year-old sister and 5 animals. I want to go to college to be a counselor for people with mental health issues, as I have been through some things myself. I entered in this scholarship competition and won the post and district levels. We're headed to the state round next! I was very passionate about this year's prompt 'America: Where do we go from here?' and thought I'd write an essay and submit the audio recording in order to voice my opinions. We have a roof over our head since of the unending hours of work that my guardians put in. I need to graduate from college with that excellent degree in my hand telling my father that I did it. I am going to be applying for this scholarship. My Great Uncle Barney was a veteran from Vietnam, and his story of receiving three purple hearts inspired me to become a combat medic or a field surgeon in the army. The army pays for a good portion of student loans due to the post 9/11 GI Bill, but it is not enough to cover my future medical school debt. I want to be able to support my country's heroes, but being in over $150,000 of student loans debt is scary. I want to be able to get a head start on retirement funds so I can foster more teenagers when I retire. This is a great opportunity and I am thankful that it is being offered to us high schoolers.

I'm applying for this scholarship because as of recently, my mom has unfortunately had to make the decision to separate from her husband of thirty years who coerced her to become financially dependent on. She is currently unable to work because of a broken leg from a motorcycle accident which she has been having complications for over a year now from and we only have six months before her husband takes the house. I'm going to apply for the scholarship because it's the least I can do for my parents. My parents are not from this country they've work so hard to get us where we are at. I am a high school junior starting my senior year of high school. As a kid I struggled alot with mental health and fell far behind in accademics. Eventually I learned to open up and use my voice to ask for what I need to succeed. Democracy made that possible letting me speak my thoughts and feeling without having all my anger. I need the scholarship money to Perdue my degree in computer engineering and to help the those in need like they have done to me. With my degree I would like to save up money and open up a gaming business that 10 percent of all profits go to charity. My passion is computers and I need the money to make my dream come true. I want this scholarship because I want my voice to matter. I'm a junior in high school right now and working to do everything I can to get into law school. I believe that I am a passionate speaker and that I speak with purpose. Getting into law school would be a big dream of mine because I want to be the voice of others that do not have one of their own. I need this scholarship because I have 12 siblings. My mom was killed when I was younger, and my step dad was charged with manslaughter(he was the one who killed her). Since I have such a large family I can’t afford college. I don’t want to live in debt. I’ve always wanted a voice. I have an opinion. Domestic violence has become such a huge aspect in my life. I need college. The world we live in know asks for that. Minimum wage is being lowered while the price of living is being raised. Reading everyone else’s comments I notice everyone needs this. I want this scholarship because i don't want to stress my parents that much for paying for my two older sisters colleges and then next mine. My parents need money also to pay for bills and with this scholarship they don't have to worry about paying a lot for my college. Even though i am a freshman in high school i want this scholarship because i don't want to wait last minute when i need to pay for my college. Once i get into college i don't want to get a student loan because then in the future i would have to pay that one off.

My mother is not going to be able to pay for my college tuition and taking student loans would cause me to be in debt the day i graduate college so if i can win this i can put it into my college funds and not cause my mother to share in my debt. i realize that who i am may not cause a second look but my reasons for winning this fair and square are right just as i'm sure most people who have applied for this have as well. Not only this but there are issues in this corrupted nation that not many have realized the extent of so maybe by speaking about it this would make others see not by being radical or yelling but by sitting down and looking someone dead in the eyes and showing them.

I want to go to a college that is going to be good for the career I want to go into. I would be moving to Terre Haute and my mom doesn't like that. My Grandfather was a member of the VFW. He was a WWII Veteran and extremely proud to have served in Africa, Normandy D-Day, and Germany. before he passed, in 2002, he told my mother and my grandfather to apply for a college scholarship with the VFW.

I have a dream. I have a reason to reach that dream. I left my house at a really young age. I got married and had a baby. I am currently 18. I would love to be an example for all those girls out there that get pregnant at a young age and think there future is over. I want to tell you all that this life that we now have. Has just begun. That one day our kid will be so proud of us. I want to be a counselor for teens. I want to make a difference in their life. I want them to all know that we were all brought to this world to make mistakes and to experience things. I am a young mom and wife and I love being it but for that reason I want to go to college and graduate with a major on Substance abuse and addiction and a Marriage and family therapy counseling. I am glad that there are oppurtunities to recieve money this easily. Out here are many, such as me, who only depend on scholarship money to be able to attend to college because unlike others we cannot work because we do not have a social security number. I love the fact that there are people willing to give there own money to simple people like us, who want to follow our dream to be somebody.
