The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Program is dedicated to supporting professional artists and art students in Virginia. The program has awarded over $6 million to Virgninian artists since its inception.
Scholarship Details
- There are 5 different categories of Fellowships; apply based on your student status during the fellowship period, not your current student status (if applicable.)
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility varies depending on the category, but there are some general requirements that apply to all Fellowship categories.
All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- All applicants must be residents of Virginia who have been so for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the application deadline.
- Applicants may be high school seniors, undergraduate students, 1st or 2nd year graduate students, or those not seeking a degree (only for the Professional Fellowship category.)
- Undergraduate and graduate applicants must be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college, university, or school of the arts, but they do not need to major in an arts-related field.

- Gather required documents, including your resume or CV, an unofficial transcript (only if you are a Student Fellowship applicant), work samples and details, and an artist statement.
- Organize and title all documents according to the VMFA guidelines.
- Apply online through the VMFA website, making sure to upload all documents and enter all information correctly.
