Hello I'm a student at California State University Fullerton. I am currently experiencing a quarter life crisis and completely lost what my academic career. I think going abroad to study will broaden up my view and help me open up to the world more, and for myself too. I've been too scared to try new things. I don't even go out of my neighborhood because I don't have a car I can use when I need. I think studying abroad and experiencing a new culture is something I really need. I need to get out of my hole. If I am awarded with this program, I actually need to go out there so I can use this opportunity.

Hi. I am a student at East Carolina University majoring in Special Education. I’m thankful to finally find a scholarship that doesn’t require a 3.0+ gpa to apply. Having a learning disability that’s very hard for me to obtain. It would be a honor to receive this scholarship so I can have the opportunity to study abroad.

Peace Kanuma  on 7/21/2022 2:31:46 PM

The scholarship is affordable and encouraging .

Riana H  on 2/11/2021 9:17:14 PM

I'm an incoming freshman at MSU, I'm majoring in Pre-Veterinary. I am soaked to apply to this scholarship because it's a fighting chance. I am hard-working yet it is very hard to find scholarships that fit me, I may not be the best test taker but I have the passion and strength to be good at everything else. If I receive this money I will use it in my first year of college so I won't have to worry much about money.

I am a 37 year old mother of 3, recently divorced. I can foresee my future, what is that you ask..Since I can remember I have always wanted to fix things, make things better. My love for fixing things began with animals. My father and I would always somehow find babies without their mother, or injured/ sick animals, we would set our alarms for the next 12 hours at every two hour intervals, just so we could meet in the kitchen to warm up milk and prepare the dropper with feeding. There was no reward, there was no thank you-for they could not talk. The joy/pride in which engulfed me when it was time to let them back into the wild is what I lived for. That one rush of bitter, sweetness, that last glimpse as it clears the hillside, that sense of fulfillment to know that I helped that survive and continue to live it's life; is priceless. As I turned into an adult, I knew I had a gift and it was to work with people. I am able to make people laugh, with ease, it comes naturally to me. Laughter heals the soul, this is true. Ultimately, I knew I was placed into the world to help fix. I attempted to get into a nursing school for 5 years. Went back to college had a 4.0 and was accepted into the National Honor society for collegian scholars-and yet was continuously turned down over and over again. That was a hard lesson to learn. Just could not make sense of it for the life of me, all of my ducks were in a row, I did everything by the book, but all I kept receiving in the mail every May was the packet of doom and denial. I eventually found myself in Dickson TN with a 6 month old and 4 year old where in short turn, my husband left us. I had no job, no money, nothing. Closest family was over 3 hours away. The one thing I did have was the LPN program I was accepted into approximately 8 months prior. I knew within my being we would be ok. I would be able to support us because I was about to begin my career- my passion. Over the next 7.5 years I had another child, another marriage,

I would be honored to receive this scholarship in order to pursue my career in Marine Biology and Veterinarian. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and I want nothing more than to help the animals not everyone is willing to work with. I want to help rescue rehabilitate and return animals to their natural habitat. So selecting a double major has so far helped me to be able to study ocean animals and exotic land animals. As off current, I am a full time student finishing the second semester of my first year. This is my first time applying for a scholarship. With being a full time student I have a part time job on the weekends to pay for the essentials and for my books. I am pushing myself to finish school so I don't end that weekend job and can achieve my goals opening my own rescue facility and help any animal that crosses my path. Thank you for the opportunity to talk about my goal.

I'm a student at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I am majoring in Speech Pathology and minoring in Spanish. With my major and minor I plan on becoming a traveling Speech Pathologist and later opening my own private practice. Having a scholarship to study abroad with could really help me explore my options of where I may want to settle down to open my own place of business. It's been my dream for years to have the chance to study abroad around South America, but specifically Spain.

I aim to gain a career in fashion post college, specifically a job as a fashion buyer, and hope to study abroad in Rome, Italy, this next spring 2021 semester. Being a Nurse has always been my dream. I remember playing Nurse with my parents at a very young age and wearing a scrub to my school's career day event. I am currently a teacher living and working in the US. I did not get a chance to pursue Nursing because, I was lacking the necessary requirements at the time when I decided to start University. Despite all this, I never lost track of what I am truly passionate about. I believe this is the reason for starting a career in Education instead. I enjoy being able to provide help to people, and as a Teacher I was still given the opportunity to help the Nation's children. I love my current job however, my passion lies in Nursing. I am not financially equipped at the moment to pay my way through a second degree. I believe your scholarship could help me achieve this dream of mine which would also in return help others. I appreciate this opportunity.

The only thing standing between going to school to obtain and RN license and me right now is the financial portion. I am a full time CNA I work at a local Portland OR hospital as well as have 2 PRN jobs to support my family. My husband has been unable to work full time for the last 2.5 years and has now found a part time position that hopefully will eventually turn to full time. we have 2 small children ages 5 and 10. I have worked in the medical field for 10.5 years and I have had every excuse why I cant go back to school. Mostly due to me being the primary financial provider in our home. Id be forever grateful to receive this scholarship to show my children that its never to late to chase your passions. with everything going on in the world today, it has taught me to not wait just do it because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. chase those dreams and you can achieve anything

cassandra f  on 5/26/2020 10:16:48 PM

I would like to receive this scholarship. I'm currently on workers compensation and financially I am ok, but it will help out so much more if I were to pay for school. I recently decided to go back to school, because I can't work. When will I ever get a chance like this again? I stopped going to school because I needed to help my family financially. Now that I can still receive money but still go to school is a blessing but its also difficult. It is difficult because I don't get the same pay as I was working. This will help pay for at least a little of my tuition but I will be so grateful because I can't come up with the money myself, and I can't rely on my family to help me pay.

Isabel A  on 5/25/2020 3:53:52 AM

Amazing opportunity that I would cherish. It seems the scholarship application is closed until mid-August 2020. I will definitely be checking in again!

Christayious B  on 5/20/2020 5:53:06 PM

If given this scholarship it will not only help me continue my education but make it one step closer for me to become a psychiatrist. I never thought I would have a chance at college but I am and I'm working and trying my best to become successful. I am grateful if I receive this money and will always appreciate you guys for giving it to me and helping me reach my goals.

Dear Benjamin A. Gilman, I Imani Mazon, want to thank you for allowing me to apply for one of your scholarships. Once I receive this scholarship this will open more doors for me in the near future even though I know that God has me on the right path and I have faith in myself. I would be very grateful to receive this scholarship. I come from a single-parent household and I will be a first generation college student. This scholarship will help me receive my master's degree in criminal justice. I plan to major in criminal justice to become a social worker and become a positive influence to families and children and to make a positive impact. I also want to set an example for people that think if they can't succeed in life that you can do anything just have faith and be determined, focused, hardworking and ready for a challenge.

Dresa P  on 5/3/2020 7:46:40 PM

I would love to receive this scholarship as a first-generation university student. Currently, I am in a one-parent household, and attending university to better my family and give back to my community is something I've always wanted. And attending university is a very hefty financial burden for my mother to bear, so receiving this scholarship would make attending university more affordable and more obtainable. Being given the opportunity to make a better life for me, my family and my community is something that I hope to complete and inspire others as well. I hope to be able to obtain a degree in archetitchure and help construct buildings for low-income families.

Ruben C  on 4/28/2020 6:56:09 PM

To start this off, it would be with great honor to receive if possible. This scholarship would help me and many others who come from low income families, and are mainly the first in their family going to college. It would mainly help me pay off some of my tuition, in order to purse my career of civil engineering at Texas A&M.

KATRINA COFER  on 4/21/2020 3:25:49 AM

Ariyana S.  on 4/18/2020 2:06:39 AM

I have always wanted to study abroad in Spain for as long as I can remember. I love everything about the country. When it comes to the culture I become very enthusiastic because of how much fun everything looks. While in high school, I took all of the Spanish foreign language classes which were amazing and made me want to go to Spain even more. We were supposed to take a trip, but our trip was shot down by our Board of Education Committee because they don't like to approve many field trips. I come from a low income based family but I am not a first-generation college student. If I get this scholarship it will help me to be the first generation student that has been able to study abroad and also fulfill my dream of many years to go to Spain.

Anaria Kinard  on 4/12/2020 2:14:43 AM

I have applied for this scholarship and I would be so honored to receive it. I applied for many reasons but mostly because im am the first in my family to actually make it past high School. I would love to be the first member of my family to stay in college all four years and more. Winning this scholarship would mean the world to me, and make my family so proud of me. I would be so thankful and thank you for making this scholarship for students like me.

Ashanti H  on 4/9/2020 3:34:16 PM

It would be a great honor to receive this scholarship. I will the the first in my family to attend college and pursue the dreams of being a nurse. I simply want to give back, they way I was given the second chance of life by great doctors and nurses. The medical field has been my dream for years!! I certainly would be grateful for the financial blessing due to both of my parents being disabled. My dream is to receive scholarships so myself or my parents won’t have to worry about financing my education.

Tiffany C.  on 4/7/2020 6:45:18 PM

It will be a privilege to receive this reward. Growing up I was not informed about scholarships and grants in high school. It was a basic learning experience that I learned on my own later in life. My mother current have 5 kids and 13 grandchildren. Winning this reward will help secure my financial dreams to have a career in the medical field and the 1st person in our entire family to graduate college. Due to several misguided for profit schools and information I was given when I was young I made some bad decision. I currently do not qualify for Fafsa student loans and have to find other financial assistant to help continue my education. It would be a dream come true to receive any funding to help me with my goals. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.

Gabriela O.  on 3/31/2020 6:18:06 PM

I have a strong passion for animals and nature and want to do my part to help them. I am currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician online course but have the opportunity to to study abroad in South Africa to gain hands on knowledge of Safari Animals as well as gaining knowledge for wildlife conservation. I grew up literally the middle of nowhere surround by nature and all its glory; my parents lived off grid in Montana. I don't have the funds to allow me to pay for this chance and neither does my family. I would be the first family member to get my college degree and the first to see another country instead of never leaving the West Coast. I would be very grateful to receive this scholarship and a chance at a lifetime to experience something I never would have dreamed of.

Kayla H.  on 3/11/2020 12:48:33 PM

I would be very grateful to receive this scholarship. I come from a very low income family and I will be a first generation college student. I really wish to get this financial aid as I am going to take up an online distance learning offered by Geneva college and each course fee is higher than what I earn per month and is distressing for me. I need to make a career switch in order to have a better quality of life and also make a positive impact to the community with the knowledge I acquired. Thank you for your consideration.

alexandra L  on 2/18/2020 12:55:37 PM

With this scholarship i will be able pay my way though school and the books. But this scholarship will not only further my career and who i aspire to be but to also change statistics on low income Hispanic families. Change the stereo types put on Hispanic and Latin families jobs such as picking berries, house keeper or construction. To show other young ethnic families that you can succeed and be who you aspire to be, to not settle for what society may think our hierarchy is.

Shaye L  on 2/11/2020 12:28:35 PM

I would really appreciate the opportunity to get this scholar ship because neither of my parents went to college and they are wanting me to go. I have decided to major in nursing and get my EMT before my associates. The money would really help me strive to reach my full potential. Thank you!

I am currently planning to study abroad this Fall semester 2020 in Spain . I have a passion for the Hispanic community and I want to equip myself every way possible, to make a difference in my community. This scholarship would open that possibility for me. I am a Second Year in College studying a major in Sociology and minor in Spanish. I intend to take classes in Spain that will help me understand society and the Spanish language in a more efficient manner. How can I find out my eligibility for this scholarship?

Good evening, Happy new year. I was curious, I know the requirement is to study abroad, but I was just accepted into Towson University. I plan on studying International Studies, which studying abroad is encouraged. I am a mother of two kids, I have a full time job and will soon be starting school in the fall. Would I qualify or not. Thank you, Elizabeth E

The most valuable thing I learned in school is that your education is worth its weight in gold. I value learning every day and applying it to my life. I strive to move forward every day, seeking success in everything I attempt and helping others on the way.
