• The University of Charleston has a vibrant and inclusive Band Program. Our goal is to contribute to the community and region with quality musical performance and educational outreach with our Pep/Marching Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Orchestra. With generous scholarship offerings for any performer in our bands and a renewed commitment to instrumental music by the Presidential Cabinet, UC is dedicated to music for all performers and their audience.

  We love music, and so do our students. Many of them see it as a passion (and a couple a profession), but we know you worked hard and built lifelong friendships. You don't want to lose that feeling. The UC Bands recognizes how important it is to you and want you always to have it. Students of any major can qualify for scholarships, and the audition is a virtual recording you create combined with a 30-minute lesson/interview. There is no pressure of a committee sitting judging your one performance of 3 minutes. We focus on the whole student: lesson, leadership, recommendation, preparation, and character.
