The Grand Rapids Community Foundation's Donald J. DeYoung Scholarship is offered to a current or former ward of the court in Kent County pursuing an undergraduate college or vocational education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have at least a GPA of 2.5 and provide a letter of recommendation from a caseworker. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation (GRCF) and applicants follow the GRCF process. Awards generally range from $1,000 to $3,000 and can be renewed if the recipient continues to meet the minimum grade point requirement. Applications run from December until the due date.
By connecting people, their passions and our region’s resources, Grand Rapids Community Foundation and our partners work toward an inclusive and equitable West Michigan. Over the last century, the Community Foundation has used the tools of philanthropy to respond to community needs. Today, to carry out our North Star and overcome racial, social and economic inequities, we must respond with intention and care. Our partners inspire, motivate and guide our work.
