  • Scholarship Description
  • Created in 1988 by the award-winning teachers of the Golden Apple Foundation, the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program recruits and prepares a rich ethnic diversity of bright and talented high school graduates for successful teaching careers in schools of need throughout Illinois.

    Golden Apple Scholars are selected from these distinct paths:
    - Graduating high school students
    - Pathway Program: College freshman and sophomores attending a partner university in Illinois or 2nd-year community college students in Illinois

    Eligibility for high school students:
    - Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (DACAmented student) and resident of Illinois
    - Graduate high school in the upcoming year
    - Complete online application
    - Minimum 2.5 GPA
    - Composite ACT score of 22 or higher and a minimum score of 19 on the combined English/Writing portion
    - Composite SAT score of 1110 and a minimum score of 26 on writing and language

    Eligibility for Pathway Program:
    - Graduated from an Illinois school
    - Currently attending one of 52 partner universities in Illinois - or - currently attending a community college in Illinois
    - Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (DACAmented student) and resident of Illinois
    - Have passed the TAP or achieved: a composite ACT score of 22; a composite SAT score of 1030
