  • Scholarship Description
  • When Joe Francis passed away after a long, difficult battle with cancer in 1994, we lost a great leader in the barber/beauty industry. To many, he was nothing short of a hero. Joe believed that cosmetologists should receive the same benefits and opportunities available in other fields. He also had a vision for a franchise system that would provide training and jobs and would help enterprising people obtain financing and build successful businesses.

One of Joe's final wishes was to continue his dream of offering careers to individuals desiring to join the cosmetology industry. The Foundation was Joe's goal. He wanted to help deserving individuals receive the financial assistance needed to attend certified barber or cosmetology schools. It is upon this wish that the Joe Francis Scholarship Foundation was founded.

Established in 1994, the Foundation serves to memorialize the life and achievements of Joe Francis in a way most reflective of his values and to continue to bring young professional hair stylists into the industry.

The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship awards are for students enrolling in cosmetology school. Applications accepted January through June 1st each year. Scholarships are awarded in August.

Nineteen awards are given in the amount $1,000 each. Applicant must be planning to enroll by fall of each year.
