  • Scholarship Description
  • The Baptist General Convention of Texas (also known as BGCT or Texas Baptists) provides generous support for theological education through funds given cooperatively by churches and individuals across the state. BGCT Ministerial Financial Assistance is for students who demonstrate a call to ministry and are preparing for ministry through enrollment in a degree program at one of the nine universities which partner with the BGCT.

    Eligibility:
    -Enrolled (full-time or part-time) as a Hardin-Simmons University undergraduate student
    -Exhibit a personal call to vocational ministry
    -Be an active member of a Baptist church
    -For your first year you may be an active member of any Baptist church to qualify. After your first year, you must be a member of a church affiliated with the BGCT.
    -Complete requirements for Endowed Scholarships for Ministerial Students including Undergraduate Ministerial Student Profile Form and a written statement of your sense of calling.
    -Complete the First-Year Certification Form for Ministerial Financial Assistance provided by the BGCT
    -Letter of recommendation from your pastor (letters from immediate family members are not accepted)

    Scholarships are renewable every year by submit the Certification Renewal Form provided by the BGCT, maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA, and completing the requirements of Logsdon School of Theology’s Ministry Guidance Program.

Midway through his "It's OK to be White" speech at the University of Connecticut, Conservative commentator Lucian Wintrich was arrested and charged with attempted larceny and disorderly conduct after he grabbed a woman who had swiped his notes off his lectern. The charges have since been dropped and in a reversal, the woman was arrested and charged with attempted larceny and disorderly conduct.
