  • Scholarship Description
  • Our academic scholarships identify future leaders of the industry through a highly competitive application process. We provide up to 52 scholarships annually to students from the highest caliber of tourism and hospitality programs across the United States and Canada and award a total of $70,000 in scholarships.

    Tourism Cares Academic Scholarships are offered in three categories:

    Applicants for undergraduate and graduate scholarships must be full or part-time student enrolled in a travel, tourism, or hospitality related program of study who are pursuing an associate's, bachelor's, or masters degree and are enrolled in the fall semester of a two or four-year college/university in the U.S. or Canada. Minimum 3.0 GPA

    Applicants for graduate research scholarships must be full or part-time student conducting graduate research in a travel or tourism related field who is enrolled in the fall semester at a four-year university in the U.S. or Canada. Minimum 3.0

    Applicants for high school scholarships must be a citizen or permanent resident in the U.S. and a high school senior who has/will successfully completed/complete an Academy of Hospitality Tourism Program (AOHT) at their high school and is entering freshmen year in the fall semester at a two or four-year university in the U.S. or Canada. Auctioning Off College Admissions Seats?

Why not have schools auction off college seats to the highest bidder? The question was posed by a senior vice president at the Harvard Management Company on his public LinkedIn page amid the recent national college admissions cheating scandal. According to Michael Cappucci, it is simply "an honest question." He goes on to ask, "Why do we have a system where wealthy parents have to make shady payments to even more shady intermediaries to get their kids into college?" The post, which has since been removed but still drew much online anger was authored by Cappucci who is "not a top official" at the company; many people still presumed Harvard is connected to his idea, according to Inside Higher Ed, but Harvard was quick to distance itself from the LinkedIn post.
