Allegheny Mountain Section - Air & Waste Management Association

The Allegheny Mountain Section will be awarding a total of $2,500 in scholarships for the coming academic year. Acceptable candidates are high school seniors that have been accepted full time in a four or five year college or university program, or undergraduate students currently enrolled in a college or university program, which will lead to a career in the Environmental Field (e.g., Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Law).

High school students can provide a copy of their Letter of Acceptance to a college or university as proof of enrollment. Students must live within the geographical area served by the Section (all of Pennsylvania west of the Susquehanna River and the State of West Virginia) and be accepted or currently attending a college or university within the geographical area served by the Section. Applicants should have at least a "B" average or a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Awards may be made by the Scholarship Award Committee to suitably qualified candidates. Awards will be on the basis of academic record, plan of study, career goals, recommendations and extra-curricular activities and without consideration of race, sex, national origin, financial need, age, or physical disabilities.

In addition, the eligibility criteria for children or spouses of AMS-AWMA members includes all of the above with the exclusion of the requirement to attend a college or university within the geographical area served by the Section; they may study an environmental program at any accredited college or university.

All necessary application forms can be found on the Section’s web site. Complete applications must be post-marked no later than March 31st.
