  • Scholarship Description
  • THE Negro Leagues Committee (NLC) of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) is pleased to announce their essay-writing contest for high school seniors. Please write an essay of 1,200 words or less, for the following question:
    "Explain why Rube Foster is considered the Father of the Negro Leagues."

    Eligibility:
    -Must be a current high school senior
    -Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application
    -Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
    -Carrying a minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school
