  • Create an original work showcasing your idea for a solution or strategy to fix the very real problem of reckless and distracted driving! Car crashes are the #1 killer of young people in America, and the majority are preventable. Enter your innovative and effective solutions and strategies to end the deadly epidemic of reckless and distracted driving in one of the four categories- writing, art, music, or video. Entries are accepted in English and Spanish. There are a total of 9 awards, ranging from $500 to $1500.

    Contest is open to students aged 14 - 22 who are enrolled in accredited high schools, trade schools, colleges, or universities. The focus is on solutions to reckless and distracted driving. While driving under the influence is extremely dangerous and highly illegal, entries focused on driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be accepted. In my city, we have many incidents with reckless and distracted driving. Everyday, innocent lives are taken by this kind of driving. I applied for this scholarship because I want to know how can we solve these problems so less lives are taken by these drivers.

I applyed for this scholarship because I was ran over by a car by a drunk driver when I was a little girl and I want to tell people what i went through so they don't have to go through the same or put someone elses family through the same terror.

Should This Factor Be Considered in College Admissions Decisions?

Almost three-fourths of people surveyed by the Pew Research Center are against consideration of race when it comes to college admissions decisions. Only 7 percent believe it should be a major factor and 19 percent say it should be a minor factor. These views were reportedly shared by "solid majorities of white, black, Latino and Asian Americans."

In 2016, after the Supreme Court affirmed the right of colleges to consider race in admissions, a Gallup poll indicated that approximately two-thirds of the public disagreed with the Supreme Court. Only 9 percent believed that race should be a major factor in admissions decisions, and 27 percent said it should be considered a minor factor. The survey did not end there. [...]
