Forty-three percent of employers who checked on social media have decided not to hire someone, according to a CareerBuilder survey. Twelve percent of college admissions officers who checked Facebook decided not to admit an applicant according to a Kaplan Test Prep survey. Technology is very fragile when it comes to obtaining information. The idea behind is well supported and yet the world cares for it as if it was a baby. There are some people who will use technology correctly; however, there are some who will spoil it for their rotten needs.

Nicole S  on 5/7/2019 9:33:35 AM

I'm skeptical of this scholarship because the application seems like it's just farming data for robocallers. Many of the other sites it recommends (for scholarships) are super sketchy.

Alexander L  on 5/4/2019 8:26:03 AM

As an advocate for our youth to consume less technology, I love the message behind this scholarship. Not only has overuse of technology been linked to poor health, but it also distances us from something we have been doing for thousands of years: face-to-face socializing. I hope to be fortunate enough to be among the ones chosen to write an essay about digital responsibility.

adam M  on 4/27/2019 5:58:04 AM

I applied hopefully i can inspire some to be more attentive to their fitness goals.

Jasper E  on 4/26/2019 5:11:06 PM

I applied for this scholarship for two reasons. The place that I've decided to go for college was what I picked because of the nature surrounding the area. I'm a firm believer in less screen time.

Campbell T  on 4/22/2019 2:39:47 PM

I applied and am hoping I will be among the ones chosen to write an essay! Thank you for the opportunity.

Matthew S  on 4/14/2019 4:33:51 PM

It's pretty cool to see a scholarship that is about getting away from technology and doing something productive

Wyatt D  on 3/30/2019 4:22:35 PM

My relationship with my phone and laptop is ...well, it could be better. I spend far too much time in my opinion doing things that I could be spent on more productive activities. Hopefully I can share my thoughts and expand all of our knowledge on the topic.

Lainey O  on 3/28/2019 11:18:31 PM

I find it a little bit ironic when people use a platform that's only possible through technology to disparage technology.

Austin P  on 3/4/2019 2:00:41 PM

Short statement I like it alot. Have to really catch the readers attention.

Justin S  on 1/29/2019 4:40:27 PM

I'm going to apply, I am currently addicted to technology myself. However technology is amazing these days. I never imagined how crazy it has gotten now.

Chelsey W  on 1/29/2019 12:33:43 PM

Great scholarship especially if I win.

viridiana r  on 1/27/2019 9:30:17 PM

Of course ! I applied for this scholarship ,thanks, for this opportunity to be able to win money for college. Without doubt, technology does take role on a daily basis in several lives , and right now I am taking advantage of technology to find money so I can attend college this 2019 fall.

Katie S  on 1/24/2019 6:03:42 PM

College education should be a human right. Imagine all of the amazing minds out there that never get a chance!

Cruz F  on 1/19/2019 6:10:29 PM

I wish they had a little more room for me to write the topic.

Anthony C  on 1/17/2019 4:32:42 PM

My brother is a great example of a technology addiction, in his case its video games. I have a lot to talk about the subject because I have a lot of personal experience on the matter.

Tae K  on 1/16/2019 8:24:59 PM

I don't quite understand the prompt; it's supposed to start with the sentence "Instead of spending time with technology, I'd rather..." or can we just start with the sentence of our choice? Also, are we just writing about the negative impact of the internet? because it just asks to complete the sentence... help..

parteek p  on 1/6/2019 3:14:55 AM

Hello, I applied for this scholarship because I work part time and planning to start my nursing school in August hopefully. Everybody knows going to college is not cheap and I don't make enough money to pay all of the college fee by myself. This would help me out a lot! Thank you for taking the time out and reading this.

Sierra E  on 1/4/2019 11:02:47 AM

I currently have a minor in addiction studies, and I feel that technology addiction can be similar to drug addiction. I believe that young people will be affected by this in the long run and I want to help which is why I have chosen to continue Social Work as a degree path.

Connor N  on 1/1/2019 1:16:44 PM

Just a heads up everybody. This is for commenting about the scholarship. It is not the application form.

Hope S  on 12/27/2018 11:59:59 AM

I applied for this scholarship. Made me think how much of an impact I can make with such a small amount of words. This is challenging but good.

Brandon S  on 12/20/2018 6:32:16 AM

Hey yall be careful, this is the area for commenting about the scholarship. I order to apply with your 140-character message you must hit the apply now button.

Tyrik W  on 12/20/2018 12:40:02 AM

Technology addiction implies that you're more connected with a technical instrument than a human being. Human connections are required to function in public.

Brandon Z  on 12/19/2018 11:07:46 PM

I applied, maybe my amateur drawings can help me (or not). But, it can't hurt to try right!?

David L  on 12/18/2018 10:21:10 PM

I applied for this one. I hope I get it. Any help will do.

Adam W  on 12/16/2018 1:40:24 PM

Is this $99 for the finalists or for the person who makes the best essay?

Timothy N  on 12/13/2018 11:46:16 AM

I think the appeal to unplug is out there, and it's good to view yourself from another angle when you are doing just that; maybe it'll make some people reconsider and do other things when they analyze themselves.

Javier C  on 12/12/2018 4:23:26 PM

The proliferation of internet access has connected people from all over the world. In doing so, individuals who would have never crossed paths now have a commonality with one another. That commonality is technology. Technology continues to expand and evolve and as people continue to become familiar with it, exploitation becomes a normality. Amina Zaidi of Verto Analytics states that 62.7% of players who play Fortnite are between the ages of 18 to 24 (Zaidi 2018).

dayanara f  on 12/7/2018 1:42:18 PM

people now and days are very addicting to technology to little children to adults. People don't look around and see whats right beside them. They act like their whole lives are on the phone/computer/etc. Nobody knows what society is like no more or most people do not even know how to spell or interact with any of us. Many of us became very anti-social.

Cara S  on 12/7/2018 9:21:30 AM

Technology, overall, for the most part has a positive impact in today’s society. However, with these wonderful effects, come consequences. For instance, it affects a person’s ability to socialize which is most commonly seen in teenagers. These young adolescents are so extravagant with communication through media, but gruesome with communication face to face. It’s as if the easier technology is made to children, the more zombie like they become. People who are already introverted creep even deeper into their shells. All in all, these are just all the horrid effects technology has had in today’s world, but I believe it has done more superb works than harmful. Medicine, Forensic Science, and Environmentalists would be nothing with the progressed advances technology has made over the past century.

Sarah H  on 12/1/2018 12:51:55 PM

too many people are addicted and need to realize that there is more to life than whats inside their phones and computers

Iris T  on 11/30/2018 10:07:15 PM

Teenagers, and even adults all around the world have now become addicted to technology. Technology can range from texting on social media, to watching Netflix for 5 hours a day. The thing is, no one can identify or admit that they have an addiction. It forms slowly and before we know it, we can't go through the day without checking our social media and/or watching an episode or our favorite show.

Robinson F  on 11/29/2018 2:32:49 PM

Technology plays a critical role in how we become more efficient as a society, but with the benefits we have suffered major drawbacks to interpersonal relationships. Technology has become a substitute for real conversation. It has also caused a mental laziness as the capacity to do critical learning and thinking has diminished due to technology overload

Christopher S  on 11/28/2018 1:32:19 PM

The integration of technology in our everyday lives has fundamentally changed society and has given birth to addiction. Technology is a double edged sword, one side provides us with instant access to countless resources while the other feeds into our desire to constantly stimulate our brains. It is of upmost importance that attention is brought to this growing epidemic before we reach the point of no return.

Fontana S  on 11/26/2018 3:26:00 PM

To experience the different point of views based on how the technology had an impact in their time of being. Everything that is existed has pro's and con's. Each individual suffer from an addiction to anything that desires them more so this topic is a true way to express their suffrage.

Jesica P  on 11/20/2018 5:11:16 PM

Technology and people, together and flourishing. However there is a darkness in humans that, for some, can only be filled (or ignored) with technology and this leads to an unhealthy dependence that can ruin someone's life. I quite enjoy this topic as I myself spend a lot of time both on and away from my PC. Thank you for this worthwhile experience and opportunity. Jesica Pierce.

Jhire G  on 11/14/2018 3:17:41 PM

People have become so addicted to technology now a days, It is affecting the people because they are not

Daniel P  on 11/14/2018 12:52:58 PM

This topic is a a genuinely important topic to give towards to people in today's society because it is shown in studies that in passing years a lot more people have been more and more attached to their technology. So into writing about this topic it would bring more awareness to the people writing about this essay.

Antonio J  on 11/14/2018 9:28:50 AM

I really hope I win.

Caroline K  on 11/13/2018 5:23:40 PM

Technology is our world. Walking down the street, you don't lock eyes with anyone. Everyone's faces are glued to their screens, unaware of the world around them. So worried about followers, likes, that incoming text message -- what's the point? Do followers measure our importance and value in this world? Soon enough, our screens will be the only thing we see, and we will become numb to our surroundings and the people around us.

Janelle B  on 12/26/2017 2:06:19 PM

I believe this would be a great topic to write about. Due to the fact that with technology has spread in many ways throughout the years so can our writing about the topic.

Alexis  on 12/25/2017 10:47:08 PM

Seeing the faces of people so engaged in their technological devices that the physical world seems irrelevant shows the deepening dependency our world has for technology. Unfortunately, technological advances will only increase, leaving us in need of setting boundaries between devices and reality. This addiction to technology will progressively get worse unless awareness is brought to the issue.

Edward D  on 12/20/2017 10:06:43 AM

I am super excited at the possibility to do even more research about this topic! I know just how addicting technology can be, and that is why I often spend days trying to go 24 hours without my phone. It is hard but so worth it!

Austin H  on 12/15/2017 1:41:03 PM

Our world today depends on technology too much! It is a great asset to have but when used in the wrong context, it can be a handicap to us.

Benjamin B  on 12/14/2017 8:52:01 PM

I see a lot of people at my school that are lost to the outside world because they are so obsessed with technology, and for a while I was one of those people. It is because of this that I know just how important of a topic this is to my generation.

Zachary T  on 12/7/2017 9:33:28 AM

I look forward to writing about this topic. It is an obvious and prevalent topic to write about. It also appears to be entertaining.

Riddhi T  on 12/3/2017 1:58:25 PM

This scholarship shines light on a growing issue in society today, it is important that we do not ignore the negative impacts that technology has on us, and how we must use technology only when it is necessary and to avoid creating a dependency on it.

Thomas S  on 11/28/2017 12:22:55 PM

This looks like a great way to spread awareness about much time the average kid spends on electronic devices

Sydney A  on 11/16/2017 12:50:46 PM
