The parent or guardian can be either a male or female coach in high school or college, and should be a full-time employee of an educational institution.

The Michael Breschi Scholarship was established in 2007 to honor the life of Michael Breschi, son of Joe Breschi, head men's lacrosse coach at University of North Carolina. The scholarship was established to preserve Michael's memory and pass on the steadfast support of the lacrosse community. It is the hopes of Coach Breschi's fellow coaches, that in awarding this scholarship to the child of another lacrosse coach, they might continue to show their continued support and care to the Breschi family.

The scholarship is a one-time scholarship of $2,500 for each of two recipients. An amount of $2,500 will be issued to the scholarship winner's college/university after the transcript of the first semester/quarter has been received by US Lacrosse.
