Scholarship Description
To be eligible to apply for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Artist Award, applicants must: be classical instrumentalists, vocalists and composers who are full-time high school students (ages 13-18) and have not yet entered college; have strong musical ability and a willingness to participate in the Learning and Media Lab Fellowship; demonstrate financial need; demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and creativity, inside and outside of the classroom; and demonstrate drive, initiative, maturity, leadership, and a commitment to giving back to one’s community.
Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: two unedited, un-enhanced video or audio samples of their music for upload into the application portal; contact information for two teachers (an academic teacher and a music teacher) who are willing to write recommendations; a copy of their family’s most recent tax forms (including all schedules, attachments and W2 forms); and a copy of their most recent transcript. This scholarship can be applied toward instrument purchases, summer camp tuition, college audition travel expenses, private lessons or other music-related needs.
