  • Scholarship Description
  • NHS is the oldest and best-known student recognition program. For nearly 100 years, NHS members have been making a difference in their schools and communities through their scholarship, service, leadership, and character. High school seniors who are National Honor Society (NHS) members in good standing of an affiliated NHS chapter are eligible to apply for the scholarship. There are no limits to the number of applications per chapter.

The phrase “seniors in good standing” pertains to active members of the current graduating class who are up to date on their chapter obligations (GPA, service activities, meeting the chapter’s expectations for character and leadership). Refer to your NHS chapter bylaws for what constitutes “good standing.” Members should check with their NHS advisers to confirm they meet all membership obligations.

Hello ! I’m Gabrielle and I am currently apart of NHS at my high school Newnan High School in Newnan, Ga. I am also apart of NSHSS. I am applying for this scholarship to ensure myself some stability to go to college. Being that college is ver expensive I want to be sure I have the funds in which to do so. With this scholarship I have a chance to further my education.

Alexa L  on 10/17/2022 9:30:23 AM

Hello, my name is Alexa Leston. The National Honor Society is only for juniors and seniors at my school and I have been in it both years. I applied for this scholarship because I want to extend my learning further. I want to attend PT school because I have always wanted to help people. Through the National Honor Society, I have administered to many people due to my community service honors. I raised money at a golf outing for the Francis Foundation which helps with the cost of medical bills for children with cancer. I raised money for veterans through a raffle system at my school. The most important community service hours I have received were from helping teach the special needs gym class during my gym block at school. This has helped me with being more understanding and patient. My education is very important to me, as well as helping people so this scholarship will help me to reach my goal of helping people and achieving a high level of education.

Hello, my name is Jimmy Brown. I am an African American Honor student since 2nd grade. I’m a senior in high school. I am applying for this scholarship so that my situation of financial hardship to go to college does not prevent me from my heart’s desire to help people as my future career. I’ve played football for 9 years straight and during my life time I’ve seen a lot of unhealthy people and multiple injuries. I want to help people especially upcoming generations and elderly get healthy and live and improve their bodies.

NHS hasn't been around at my school for very long, and in fact it's only been around for a few short years before I became a sophomore. I was lucky enough to grant the ability to join this organization and through this group I've discovered many new things to appreciate in life. I'm not sure if every school's organization is required service hours every semester but mine does, and I've found it to be so enjoying and fulfilling after helping serve the community. The feeling of gratitude you receive makes you wish to do more and help more people, and I feel like that's what NHS is for. It's not only there to help recognize the best, but it's here to help others in their communities and improve the world as a whole.

Camila F  on 2/5/2021 9:54:07 PM

The NHS has been a program I've been interested in since my freshman year of high school. I was fortunate and blessed enough to finally join my school program for the NHS my sophomore year. I think this scholarship will definitely benefit my chances in progressing with my education because I am familiar with this program and it will certainly help fund for my college fees. While there are thousands of students who are possible applicants for this opportunity, I believe that I have the potential in humbly demonstrating my academic strengths and the weakness I can learn from.

Lauren T  on 12/27/2020 12:25:11 AM

Education has always been engraved into me since childhood. I not only want to get my own college degree but, carry my education beyond my school days. Knowledge is power and being able to educate people is liberating them. Personally, I'v always seen value within NHS because it shares many of the key values that I hold myself and by submitting this application to this scholarship, I wish to further my education in school while maintaining it at home.

Education is an investment and passport to the future and the advancement of many. The more you learn, the more you earn. As a member of The National Honors Society, it is our duty to keep the torch flame alive to enlighten and embrace leadership, integrity, and moral standards. Like many, I express interest to apply for the scholarship sponsored by our organization not to take the scholastic funds for granted, but to maintain and keep the flame alive.

I applied for this scholarship because I am paying for college all on my own and would love to alleviate as much future debt as possible. I have a very good cumulative GPA and was inducted last March. I am also planning on attending a private university, so it definitely will be expensive.

Memphis Curry  on 10/28/2020 12:10:58 PM

Hi! I would love to be considered for this scholarship because I want to be able to pay to go to a great college to continue my education. I became apart of NHS half way through my sophomore year and am now a senior continuing with the organization. I love being apart of NHS because it gave me an opportunity to give to my community along with national and international organizations. Along with being involved in NHS, I also participate in Student Council, and Sources Of Strength.

Leshaee S  on 10/27/2020 12:02:31 PM

I would be thankful to be considered to win this scholarship because I worked very hard to where I am now and it would be great to win such a scholarship like this. Throughout my elementary years, I've really struggled academic wise and my teachers will tell my parents that I was doing poorly and below average and there was a chance that I wouldn't be able to make it to middle school. When I got into middle school I've really pushed myself into studying, doing my work, staying after school for extra help, and just trying my best. With all of that hard work I started to receive Honor Rolls and that made me very proud that I was finally getting recognized for my work. When I started Highschool I kept up with my grades and continued to push myself to do better and I was accepted into the National Honor Society as a member and that brought me joy because I achieved something even greater.

Kira E  on 10/21/2020 6:22:02 PM

I would love to have this. I have been in the NHS since the day i was able to. I have worked hard to maintain the Honor roll. I want to continue my education but need to help my mother pay for my college.

Dillon kalck  on 10/17/2020 8:48:21 PM

I need financial support. I have witness my mom go through breast cancer treatment including losing her hair and being very sick. I would love to make her happy by being successful so she does not have to worry about money or me. I am a tutor to students at my school and enjoy helping my school and the students. I am on the national honor society as well as the technical society. I would love to attend Full Sail university but probably won’t because my family can’t afford the school. Dillon Kalck

w  on 10/30/2019 1:15:16 PM

I wish everyone the best of luck with their scholarship search. The problem is if you are fortunate to get a full tuition scholarship, chances are good that you will be ineligible for any other scholarships you have earned that are sent to the university. We lost several thousand dollars of awards that could have been used for expenses, summer tuition, etc., because of this.

Adam Thomas  on 10/6/2019 10:28:49 PM
