  • Scholarship Purpose: Janine Turner - motion picture and television actress, author, singer, inspirational speaker and founder of Constituting America - is leading a school and community effort designed to provide students with opportunities to learn historical content and develop personal and educational awareness through the study of the U.S. Constitution, its principles set forth by our Founding Fathers, its relevancy in our lives and to provide educators with resources to enhance classroom teaching.

    Scholarship Information: High School students, College, Law School and Graduate School students are invited to enter the "We The Future" Constitution Day Contest with scholarships and prizes awarded:

    The Contest categories for High School students include
    1. compose and perform a cool song or
    2. write, direct and produce an entertaining short film (5-10 minutes long)or
    3. PSA (a one minute public service announcement) or
    4. write an essay.

    The Contest categories for College students include
    1. compose and perform a cool song or
    2. write, direct and produce an entertaining short film (5-10 minutes long)or
    3. PSA (a one minute public service announcement)or
    4. write and deliver a speech.

    The Contest categories for Graduate School and Law School students include
    1. write, direct and produce an entertaining short film (5-10 minutes long)or
    2. write and deliver a speech.

    All entries must be submitted by September 17th. Prizes for High School categories include $1,000 scholarship and a trip mentoring trip. Prizes for College, Law School and Graduate School categories include a $2,000 scholarship and a mentoring trip. Mentoring trips are to Hollywood for short film winners; Nashville for song winners, Washington, D.C. for PSA and essay winners.

According to President Obama, the Pell Grant Program should be extended to include convicted felons currently in our prison systems so that they may continue their education from behind bars.
