Nick Teramani Vocational Scholarship

The Nick Teramani Vocational Scholarship is a one-year award named in honor of Nick Teramani, City of Prospect Heights former alderman. This scholarship is intended for students interested in pursuing a vocational/special interest program, or special interest school for the 2014-2015 school year. (Vocational program examples: chef’s school, trade school, cosmetology school, certificate programs, automotive program.) Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent such as a GED diploma with a minimum unweighted cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, 3.0 on a 5.0 scale, or GED score equivalent. Past winners may reapply. One $2,500 award is given annually.


Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a resident of Prospect Heights, Illinois or Wheeling, Illinois to be eligible to apply.

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants will complete an online profile which will match them to scholarships they can then apply for. Thoroughness in completing the online profile is important. Applications will be scored by a selection committee comprised of high school counselors and community members. Scores will be based on:
- Academic Achievement
- Financial Need
- Community Service and Extracurricular School Activities
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Proof of Recognized Accomplishments - Nick Teramani Vocational Scholarship applicants must furnish proof of recognized accomplishments in the area of talent, passion, or skill, e.g., Certificate of Achievement. There is no essay requirement for the Nick Teramani Scholarship.

Finalists will be invited for a personal interview with the representatives of the Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars Board of Directors.

Scholarship winners will be announced in May. Winners are expected to attend the Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the summer, provide a photograph suitable for publication and may be asked to attend at least one fundraising function.
