The Kentucky League of Cities established the Dr. Joseph W. Coleman Memorial Scholarship to honor Joseph’s lifelong commitment to continuous learning and local government.
Scholarship Details
KLC awards $5,000 a year to one recipient. The scholarship does not automatically renew. However, previous winners may apply for subsequent years.
Eligibility
- Any Kentucky student pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from a Kentucky-based
institution may apply
- KLC staff members and family members of KLC staff are not eligible.
How to Apply
- Applications must be submitted via email with all required attachments.
- Letters of recommendation can be emailed directly to KLC
- All documents must be received by June 3rd
Students will be notified by email of any scholarship award or denial on or before July 15th.
Application Requirements
- Provide documentation showing enrollment in a MPA program for the coming school year
- Official transcript from the most recent educational institution
- Either a 500-word essay or a video (not to exceed three minutes)
- Applicants may submit a letter of recommendation which may be sent separately from the application. Letters must be received by June 3rd, and may be emailed to KLC.
