The Dr. Joseph W. Coleman Memorial Scholarship aims to honor Joseph’s lifelong commitment to continuous learning while creating a legacy forward for future generations of students in the commonwealth. Dr. Joseph W. Coleman was a long-term Kentucky League of Cities staff member committed to bettering the commonwealth through effective local governance. Joseph was an expert in parliamentary procedure and was committed to helping city officials throughout the state.
In addition to having a generous spirit committed to serving others, Joseph had a passion for higher education. This scholarship seeks to honor Joseph’s lifelong commitment to continuous learning by supporting individuals pursuing a degree in public administration. Any Kentucky student pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from a Kentucky-based institution may apply. KLC staff members and family members of KLC staff are not eligible. The Kentucky League of Cities will award $5,000 annually to one recipient. The scholarship is not renewable, but previous winners may reapply.
