  • The Minority Teacher Education Scholarship (MTES) program was created to be Florida’s Answer to Diversity in Teaching. For over 20 years, the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers, Inc. has answered the call and continues to provide the great state of Florida with high quality, highly qualified minority teachers. FFMT is governed by a Governor appointed Board of Directors from institutions of higher education and various industries throughout the state.

    The Minority Teacher Education Scholars Program is a collaborative performance-based scholarship program for African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, and Native American students. The participants in the program include Florida’s Florida College System institutions and its public and private universities that have teacher education programs. Applicants must be a resident of the Florida, and be African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaskan Native. Applicants must be admitted into a teacher education program at any of FFMT's participating universities/colleges and be a junior, senior or graduate student that has not earned a baccalaureate degree in Education. Special consideration is given to state/community college graduates.

I am a African American who attends Azusa Pacific I am currently working on my BA and I major in liberal Arts of Education and I plan on becoming a teacher after I graduate in 2022 for a few years now I've worked with kids as a summer camp counselor and after school coach for 5 years in a majority black area as a black man there are not many teachers of color and there are so many minority students that feel nobody has there back or cant relate at all to them and after seeing the positive impact I have made in kids lives I know for a fact that teaching is a calling of mine

I am a African-American woman currently in the A.S. Early Childhood Management Program. I am maintaining a 3.5gpa and I am paying for all classes out of pocket. I have 3 children and work full time for Duval County Public Schools/ Secretary for Hyde Grove Elementary. I am seeking financial support to allow me to finish the program faster. I am able to afford one class each semester and I would finish quicker if I could take more. I am striving to become a school Teacher. My goals are to finish my A.S and obtain my B.A. at UNF in Education.
