  • Scholarship Description
  • The Airgas ­ Jerry Baker Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students interested in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor.

    Eligibility/Requirements:
    -Must be 18 years or older
    -Must have a high school diploma
    -Must be a full-time student
    -Have at least a 2.8 accumulative GPA with a 3.0 GPA in engineering courses
    -Must be a citizen of the U.S. or Canada
    -Plans to attend an academic institution located in the U.S. or Canada
    -Priority is given to those who demonstrate financial need
    -Priority is given to those who have interest in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor by prior work experience, clubs, organizations or extra-curricular activities
    -Priority is given to those individuals residing or attending school in Alabama, Georgia or Florida
    -Scholarships are renewable up to 4 years

    The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society.
