  • Scholarship Description
  • The Agnes M. Lindsay Scholarship provides scholarships for students with demonstrated financial need who are from rural areas of Massachusetts and attend public institutions of higher education within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

    Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or non-citizen eligible under Title IV regulations permanent legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year prior to the opening of the academic year and must have applied for financial aid, using the standard Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants must be in compliance with Selective Service Registration and not be in default of any federal or state Student Loans for attendance at any institution or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received. Must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credits or its equivalent) in a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at an eligible institution and not have received a prior bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Must be maintaining satisfactory academic progress in accordance with institutional and federal standards, demonstrate financial need as determined by the federal methodology need analysis criteria and be a permanent resident of a Massachusetts "rural" area. (A rural area is defined as an area which is outside an urban area and has fewer than 15,000 inhabitants)

Protest at Johns Hopkins U Over Proposed Private Police Force

Student at Johns Hopkins University have staged a month-long sit-in at Garland Hall, JHU’s main administrative building, to protest the university's plans for a private police force, which was recently approved by the Maryland General Assembly. The university has had to suspend financial aid, disability, academic advising, and international services due to the protest's complete blockage. The protesting students are also demanding that JHU cancel its contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and eight students even chained themselves to Garland Hall. [...]
