  • Since 2001 a major focus of SWE-LV has been to distribute scholarships for high school senior women who intend to major in engineering at their respective college or university. Scholarship funds are provided by area businesses and all of the work for administration of the program is provided by SWE volunteers. Evaluation is based on academic achievement, extracurricular and leadership activities, a recommendation, and an original essay.

    Eligibility:
    -Applicants must reside in areas with zip codes beginning in 177-187 and 195-196, which includes over 20 counties in Pennsylvania
    -Applicants must be females graduating from high school
    -Applicants must be enrolling as a first-year student in an ABET-accredited engineering program in 2016. Majors in engineering technologies (any), computer technology, computer science, and information systems are not qualified

    -Industrial Engineering
    -Manufacturing Engineering
    -Materials, Metallurgical and Ceramics Engineering

9/11 Memorial Flags Trashed at California College

Vandals allegedly trashed the 2,997 American flags planted across Occidental College's campus as a 9/11 Memorial by the college's Republican Club.
