The G.B. Mann Scholarship is awarded to current high school senior students who attend school in the Dallas Branch region (Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall Counties) and who will be attending an institution of higher learning in the upcoming fall semester in pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering. Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: two references (one should be a teacher or counselor who is familiar with their academic ability and the other a personal reference from someone other than family); a copy of their transcript and their ACT/SAT scores; and a 300-word essay on an assigned topic.
This scholarship was established in the early 90s through the generosity of G.B. Mann. Numerous Dallas area high school and college students have benefited from his large and kind endowment. An ASCE Past President and Life Member, G.B. Mann received a degree in Civil Engineering from SMU. He was active in ASCE and NSPE. He contributed to the construction of numerous Texas highways. He mentored many young engineers.
