  • Scholarship Description
  • The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation administers this scholarship program on behalf of Oshkosh Corporation Foundation Inc. Students with a parent employed by Oshkosh Corp., Pierce Manufacturing, McNeilus Cos., or JLG Industries are eligible for scholarships from the Oshkosh Corporation Foundation Inc.

    Criteria:
    -The scholarship applicant must be a graduating senior from high school
    -A child is eligible to apply regardless of the high school he or she is currently attending. By child, we include the natural child, adopted child, or stepchild, of a Participating Company employee
    -The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. and plan to attend school in the United States
    -The parent of the applicant must have been a regular, full-time employee of the Participating Company for a minimum of 1 year prior to March 31
    -Children of officers of Oshkosh Corporation and any disqualified person with respect to the Oshkosh Corporation Foundation, Inc., Oshkosh Corporation or any of its affiliate companies as defined in Section 4946 of the Internal Revenue Code are not eligible for consideration
    -Allowable schools will include a two-year or four-year colleges/university, however, two-year technical school programs will not be allowed
    -Scholarship recipients shall be selected on the basis of academic performance, school and community involvement, and personal essay. Recommendations from instructors or other individuals not related to the applicant may also be used in the selection process, but are not required

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
