I am applying for this scholarship to further help me achieve a career in Music. My father is a Captain at Station 92 in Greenwood, Indiana. What inspired him is that he wanted to make a difference in the firefighter community and just our community. He has been one for over 20 years now and is a paramedic along with that and has won many awards for how outstanding he is. Now he would be a great inspiration for me to become a first responder but unfortuneately my passion is music and my goal is to become a Music Producer, my father though has definetly inspired my sister to become a paramedic in the near future.

I am applying for this scholarship to help further my law enforcement career. I am planning to attend UCM this coming up fall to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology. I would be a second generation in the law enforcement family. My dad decided to become a law enforcement officer after the economy took a crash in 2007. He has always wanted to be in a profession that served his community and could open gate way to help further generations. I have pretty much been exposed to law enforcement my whole life. My Dad has been a part of the uniform patrol unit, investigations (CID), professional standards, and IMPACT squad (narcotics and firearms related offenses). He was awarded Officer Of The Year in 2016, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the Life Saving Award in 2019. Law Enforcement to my dad has never been just about taking the bad guys off the street. He has always wanted to show the community how good law enforcement truly is. My dad was involved in a national wide news break when he spotted a juvenile helping an elderly woman to her car in the pouring rain. My Dad has bought troubled youth/adults lunch or dinner so they could rest with a full stomach. He has also stopped at the local park and played with the local children in a water ballon fight. These actions themselves are a huge motivation to why I want to go into law enforcement. I want to help make a change in this world just like my dad has. This scholarship would help me in the best way possible and would bring a smile to my Dad's face. Thank you for your time

Being one of the first generations to go to college coming from low income family, I do not fill the criteria for this scholarship. Since none of my parents were or are Active Duty first responders. I hope one day I become an Honorable Fire Fighter.

I am the daughter of a firefighter who puts his life on the line everyday for the sake of his family. My father, Rashiem Brooks, have been a firefighter since 2018 and I thank him everyday for his bravery ever since then. He works under the Rochester fire department. Since he is out protecting people he isn't always able to spend quality time with his family. I am applying for this scholarship so I can show him that his hard work doesn't go unknown.

My dad, and my grandparents on my dad's side of the family, have all been in law enforcement. My dad is currently part of the Odessa Police Department and was recently promoted to the captain position in his department. Before we moved to Odessa, my dad worked at the Giles W Dalby Correctional Facility. After moving to Odessa, he joined the police force in December of 2007 where I was able to pin his badge. During his time in the police force, he worked his way through the ranks and joined the SWAT team in the process. My dad was one of the first responders to the Midland-Odessa Shooting on August 31, 2019. Almost all of my dad's side of the family has either been exposed to law enforcement or the military. My grandmother was enlisted in the Army and then later joined the Odessa Police Department. My grandfather also enlisted in the Air Force before joining the Odessa Police Department. I can go on and on about the military in my family which I think is funny because I feel like I am ruining the trend of military and law enforcement by pursuing engineering instead. I am planning on pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas Permian Basin. I am 17 years old and currently a senior at the UTPB STEM Academy and plan on graduating in May of 2021. Then I will finally be done with high school and start my college experience!

I want to pursue a degree in nursing. I have grown up around fire, EMS, and police all my life. My dad has worked as a firefighter at his current station for the past 20 years. After being the stations deputy fire chief for years he became the new fire chief in 2018. I first started visiting the station to hang out when I was a few months old. Everyone at the station is basically family and are like aunts and uncles to me.

I want to pursue a Nursing degree. I have been around Fire and EMS all of my life. My dad, Garry Rice Jr, was a volunteer fireman (Reynolds, Burnettsville and Delphi Fire Depts) until health issues started in 2013. He is now a Corrections officer at Logansport Juvenile corrections center (under Sargent Colter). My mom, NIcole Rice, started with a volunteer first response (Reynolds) which paid for her to get her EMT-B that she used not only with the first response but worked on an Ambulance as well as work at our local amusement park (Indiana Beach) as an EMT. She is now a hard working 911 dispatcher at White Co 911 (under Terri Brooks). She works nights so that she can still be at ALL of my sister and I's activities. She sleeps around our schedules so she doesn't miss anything.

My father has been a proud law enforcement officer in NJ since 1994. As we all know, being the child of a police officer is not always easy. Children of officers often have holidays without their parent, there could be an empty seat at special events, and the fear of the unknown danger is always on the mind for the child of a police officer. My dad has participated in the Police Unity Tour since 1997 raising money for the families of officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We have always been proud to be a police family. I Joined the Fire Department and Rescue Squad as volunteer because my dad was a volunteer firefighter before he joined the military and became a combat medic and he passed down his knowledge of emergency medical care to me and for the past two years as a member of my local Rescue Squad I have a growing love for EMS and helping people in their darkest hour. So I’m trying to obtain my EMT-B so I can start my career as a paid member in the career that I love doing and so I carry on a Emergency Medical Provider of some sort in my family. I hope I’m able to receive this scholarship because eventually plan on obtaining my Paramedic in the future.

My step-father is a full time LEO and I couldn't ask for a better father. He made the choice to be my dad when he married my mom but didn't have to, he could have just made the choice to be "my mom's husband". My "real" father didn't do such a great job and didn't set such a good example, I couldn't be more proud to be my step-dad's son which is why I want to follow in his footsteps and pursue a degree in law enforcement in college.

I have never known anything other than growing up in a household based around having and parental unit that is an Active First Responder. I look up to my mother because she is a FF/EMT-B, who is currently going to school to become a Paramedic. My moms name is Jennifer Haas. My mom, has been a true hero since the day I was born. My mother started thinking about becoming a firefighter after Sept. 11, had happened. Thankfully, my mom found out that she was having twin girls shortly after Sept. 11, 2001. My mom Jenn, has always put her dreams aside to take care of my twin and I. My twin sister and I, were born one year, nine months, and one day after Sept. 11, 2001. My mom is currently on a fire department (Danbury Township Fire Department) Keith Kahler, and has been on the department for three years now. She has been an EMT-B, for about eight years. Jenn, currently has been enrolled in a 15 month course for Paramedic school, and is just around the corner to graduate. My twin sister and i are currently a Senior in HS. I am going to fire school to become a firefighter/EMT. I really hope I am able to receive this scholarship because I hope to eventually continue my education to medic shool, and even the RN route.

My father has been a police officer since 1997 here in Louisiana. I have only known him in this role. He has always been a "people" person who would give you the shirt off of his back. When performing his duties, my dad was always professional, courteous and respectful. He never took any call personally, but treated everyone as if he knew them personally. He would take every opportunity to make any call a learning experience in order to teach as he performed his job. He will actually have people, whom he has arrested, come up to him and thank him for how he treated them. My dad always goes above and beyond to help those in need. He actually had to help those unfortunate individuals in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina devastated the area. My dad has an infectious smile and attitude that affects everyone that he comes in contact with. He never meets a stranger and has no issue speaking with any one of any race, religion or creed. Even when he is off duty, people come up to him just to say hi or thank him for what he does. My dad makes me very proud to be the daughter of a police officer.

The reason I chose nursing was that I always have looked up to my dad who has worked as a firefighter since 1998 while also being a paramedic since 1990. Watching him help people since I was little has encouraged me to want to do the same. Receiving this scholarship would help me live out my dream of working in the health care system.

Many will write about how their parents career on the police force and how much of an impact they held. However, my story is a little different. My father is a New York City Police Detective, he chose to join the police force after 9-11 because he had a calling to serve his community. Due to his job I haven't gotten to see him on holidays, birthdays or majority of my life honestly. But when talking to him about his career he is very passionate and has witnessed many difficult things. He has been on the force for 14 years and is now a Detective with the Firearms and Tactics section. Due to the stories he has told me and watching other family members who have been law enforcement has helped me want to be an officer or even a federal agent myself. Because of my dads and my families influence on me I have been an intern with state police and witnessed everyday the life of an trooper while interacting with other officers from other counties, and even court officials, my calling was truly there to watch those get justice for others wrong doing. My goal just like my dads is to be influential on younger generations and those in the community to understand their job is to protect, not mistreat people. But at the end of the day their mental mindset when on the job is making it home to their family as well as others around them.

I am a daughter of an Alameda County Firefighter. My father started his journey when I was born because he was so passionate for giving back to his community of where he was born and raised. My father is now almost 20 years on the job and has the title of a Hazmat Paramedic Captain. He is one out of twelve guys in his department that have this title. This means he is put in extremely dangerous situations often. As a daughter of a hero, I too want to give back to my community just like him. I see how everyday he goes to work to help save someones life and that truly inspires me. I want to become an Occupational therapist for the same reason he is a firefighter. I am passionate about giving back to my community and making a small difference in this huge world. This scholarship will help my father out financially but also allows me to express who I truly am in my academic learning.

My stepdad has been in the fire service since 1994. He began his career as a wildland firefighter, Hotshot, once he graduated high school. After 5 years on the Hotshot crew, he began to pursue a fire career in a municipal fire department. He went to college and got a degree in Fire Science and Paramedicine and eventually started a new career with Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire) in 2005. During his 15 years with Metro Fire, he has held positions on the rescue ambulance, fire engine, rescue helicopter, rescue boat, and hazmat team. He currently is a firefighter/paramedic on a fire truck in South Sacramento. He enjoys being a firefighter/paramedic and when asked why he does not promote to a higher rank like a Captain or Chief, he states “I like being the one doing the job, not the one telling people how to do it.” He plans on working as a firefighter/paramedic until he retires in 10 years at which time he wants to move to the Bay Area with my mom and watch the San Francisco Giants play everyday. Throughout many years of hearing stories of all the times he has saved lives, it inspired me to grow up and become a first responder as well. I have always dreamt of becoming a police officer to help save lives and keep my community safe. Some colleges I am looking at in my future include University of California, Los Angeles, California State University, Sacramento and University of California San Diego. I know that when I graduate highschool, I will go to college and major in criminal justice, and after college, I will be able to make my dream come true.

I am applying to this scholarship because my father has been a police officer for over twenty years now and though I don’t see him often I know he is helping the community. Though it makes it hard to get in touch with him because of his long hours, I will always remember that he is the one that introduced me to the world of video gaming and I’ll always be happy about that. From saving drowning children to keeping our streets safe, my father has been serving in the police force since 2006. Growing up in a bad part of town, my dad found a passion for keeping his family safe and wanted to expand in the ways he helps people. He knew being a police officer was his calling. He started off with patrolling and loved working night shifts. He always said "if you are calling 911 at night, you need more than a police officer, you need someone who cares. But then, he discovered a new calling. A school resource officer approached him and told him to consider applying for an open position in one of our local schools. He took up this offer and got the job! He was and still is excited to make a difference in kids lives. Everyday he goes to work and builds a sense of trust in these kids. He truly is making a difference to our future, hopefully even getting rid of some of the tensions between groups of people and cops. My dad has inspired me so much throughout the years. I hope, no matter what career path I choose to take, I can be just as influential and passionate as he is.
