Every year, the San Diego Chinese Women’s Association awards scholarships to selected outstanding students of Chinese descent who are attending high school in San Diego County. Scholarships are open to both male and female applicants of at least one-quarter Chinese descent. Two scholarships are available. For students enrolling in a four-year university, they must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. For students enrolling in a two-year community college or vocational program, they must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications run from January until the due date.
Scholarships will be awarded in June. The total number of scholarships to be awarded will depend on availability of funding and the number of deserving applicants. Apart from completing the application form, applicants must also: submit a list of extracurricular activities that they've participated; submit one letter of recommendation; submit an official transcript; and an essay (maximum two pages, typed and double-spaced) on an assigned topic.
