  • Scholarship Description
  • The VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation, funds scholarships, primarily through the VSGA VIP Card Program, to Virginia high school students who are interested in golf and wish to attend Virginia colleges and universities. The awards are conditional on students’ continued progress in academics. Criteria for the awards include an active interest in golf (ability not important), academic achievement and financial need.

    Eligibility:
    -Any Virginia high school senior, in good standing, who has been domiciled in Virginia since Sept. 1
    -Candidates must be in good academic standing at any high school or equivalent level institution acceptable to the
    VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation

    Consideration Based on the Following Criteria:
    -Does the candidate play golf or have any interest in an activity associated with golf? (Skill and ability are not requirements or considerations)
    -Academic achievement
    -Character/Community Service
    -Essay
    -Financial need
    -All applications must be made on the candidates behalf by a representative of a member club of the Virginia State Golf Association Inc.

Student Group Cancels Controversial Debate at University of Chicago

A controversial immigration debate was canceled this week by a student group at The University of Chicago - a university which "prides itself on protecting free speech, even offensive speech." The Edmund Burke Society, a conservative parliamentary debating society, canceled the debate, claiming it "could not assure an orderly event," particularly following the uproar over how the group had described the event.
