  • Scholarship Description
  • The Iranian Scholarship Foundation (ISF) provides scholarships to students of Iranian descent in the United States who demonstrate exceptional academic promise, significant financial need and a dedication to community service. We believe that the future of the global Iranian community rests in the hands of our younger generation and the Iranian Scholarship Foundation is committed to providing the financial means to turn educational dreams into reality while fostering a sense of responsible community stewardship.

    Eligibility:
    -Be of Iranian descent
    -Be enrolled or accepted at a four-year accredited university in the United States
    -Demonstrate financial need
    -Possess and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
    -Have participated in community service and continue to do so
    -Have a minimum SAT score of 1850 or 27 for ACT (if applying as a high school student)

    Submission materials:
    -Completed application form
    -School transcripts and testing records
    -University letter of acceptance
    -Income tax forms from yourself and your parents (via mail for your security)
    -Include a signed copy of the IRS form 4506
    -Two personal essays about yourself (750 words and 500 words)
    -Transcripts from your high school and - if applicable - your undergraduate program as well
    -Two letters of recommendation
    -One letter from a teacher or professor
    -One letter from an organization where you have performed community service

Harvard Supporters Back University in Admissions Trial

Harvard students and alumni will testify in support of Harvard during the admissions trial this week, defending its "race-conscious admissions policy" against claims that it discriminates against Asian-American applicants. The trial is the latest chapter in a lawsuit filed in 2014 by Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA).

Harvard University has been accused of "balancing its undergraduate classes to ensure that it had admitted its desired share of students of each race and ethnicity" and also for penalizing Asian-American applicants by "systematically giving them lower scores on a metric admissions officers use to measure personality." Adam Mortara, a lawyer representing SFFA, stated that the university scores applicants in four categories: academic achievement, athletic ability, extracurriculars, and personality. While referencing admissions data, he concluded that, despite their higher academic performance, Asian-Americans are admitted at lower rates. [...]
