  • Scholarship Description
  • The Deana's Wish Memorial Scholarship is for those who have been diagnosed with or have an immediate family member (parent, grandparent, sibling, child) who has been affected by esophageal or stomach cancer.

    U.S. Citizen entering or continuing college in the upcoming academic year. Preference is given to residents of California. Applicants must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and have an SAT Score of at least 1500 or/an ACT score of at least 21.

    You need to include:
    -Submit an optional video (via email) of the applicant reading his/her essay
    -Transcripts
    -One letter of recommendation
    -A signed statement from a licensed Medical Doctor verifying the date on which the affected person(s) was/were diagnosed; describing the type of cancer (diagnosis) the treatment, and the ultimate outcome; and verifying the affected person(s) as current or past patient(s)
    -Provide a copy of a recently filed FAFSA or the applicant's most recently filed federal income tax return

    Submit a minimum one-page essay on how or in what ways the applicant's life has been affected by the cancer or, if the Applicant is not the affected person(s), a minimum one-page essay on how or in what ways the applicant's life has been affected by the affected person's cancer. Essay format: typed, single-spaced, 12-point font, include a Title and
    applicant's name. Proper spelling and grammar is important.

A controversial immigration debate was canceled this week by a student group at The University of Chicago - a university which "prides itself on protecting free speech, even offensive speech."
