  • Scholarship Description
  • Since 1962, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has been Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children. The Nation's oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children, the Scholarship Foundation pays particular attention to those students whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat or has demonstrated financial need.

    Applicants must be the child of one of the following:
    -Active duty or reserve U.S. Marine
    -Veteran U.S. Marine who has received an honorable discharge, or who was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps
    -Active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with a U.S. Marine unit
    -Veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who served with a U.S. Marine unit and has received an honorable discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman attached to a Marine unit

    Additionally, applicants must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
    -Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
    -Family adjusted gross income for the previous tax year that does not exceed $95,000. Non-taxable allowances are not included in determining adjusted gross income
    -Planning to attend an accredited undergraduate college or career training school in the upcoming academic year
    -Students who already have their first undergraduate degree, or are pursuing their second bachelor's degree, or attending graduate school of any kind, or attending Federal Service Academies are not eligible.

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
