  • The New York State HESC Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State.
    ADVERTISEMENT

    Student must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, and be a legal resident of New York State for at least one year prior to the start of the term. Must have graduated from high school in the United States, earned a high school equivalency diploma by passing a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) formally known as a GED, or passed a federally approved "ability to benefit" test. Applicant must study at an approved post-secondary institution in New York State and be matriculated in an approved program of study and be in good academic standing with at least a "C" average. Must be enrolled as a full-time student taking twelve or more credits applicable toward the degree program, per semester, and be charged at least $200 tuition per year. Must not be in default on any state or federal student loans and not be in default of any repayment of state awards. Application is done through completing the FAFSA. Earning this tuition will help me at a great deal. I am living with my single mother who works to provide for me and my siblings just to make sure that we get by. The college i am hoping to go to is expensive and is one of my dream colleges. COVID 19 has had a great deal on my family due to the fact that it has cut our income and restricted us in many ways due to the fact that we need to stay safe. Obtaining the scholarship will help me go to school and help me get the education my mother couldn't get.

Earning this tuition will be great for my future . knowing that I could have this opportunities gives me a lot of hope that everything will be great . having this will mean a lot to my family due to how we have our own financial problems due to covid . being a first generation to attend college in my family is a big accomplish thats why I am so dedicated .

I sincerely need this aid and any aid possible for college since my parents won’t be able to financially support me and although i am working for my own expenses I do not have college tuition money to pay for my own. I very much have the desire to finish my career and help out my parents and my community after finishing my studies.

I truly need this scholarship because my parents might not be able to support me in paying for my college tuition. My parents are immigrants who have been running their own small business in New York ever since they came here. They rely on their business to provide for their family in many ways. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they weren't able to generate revenue for most of quarantine, and are still struggling to pay for expenses and bills for their business. This is mainly because their business(which is a salon) is considered as an "non-essential business," and was not able to operate for a long period of time. Due to loss in revenue, my parents are most likely not able to support me financially in college. They pay full tuition, and have not been approved for any breaks. This bill will be passed on to me, and I can imagine how much I will struggle in paying for these loans. I would appreciate this amount to help me stay in college for the remaining four years. I want to be able to pursue my academic career in any way possible.

Earning this tuition will help aid me in affording tuition at a four year college. I am currently living with my single mother who struggles to pay for my private catholic school high school, and care for my little autistic brother. The opportunity to win this scholarship will make life much easier for my family.

Being part of this pandemic( Covid-19), it has led to many challenges whether for me or my family economically. I am currently in my third year of college, and I would love to still continue my education after I graduate from college. I really would like to be part of this scholarship because at least it will cover some of my tuition or at least give me something that will help me pay it since my parents can't afford it. At the end of the day I'll be very grateful with any help.

I would love to represent the New York State HESC Tuition Assistance Program, I need the extra help with paying for housing and books and food. I need this scholarship because i want the best education opportunity and looking forward in pursuing sports management. My mother has worked her hardest to give me the very best education and stay on top of my academics. With that said, i have been on honor roll throughout elementary, junior high and now high school going to finish off with a 4.0 gpa. My drive is to learn but i know my mom cant afford the high tuition cost. Maintaining grades is not a problem i just want to just simply learn and be successful in this field and to make her prouder than she is.

I won this :) If you are a New York resident going into a New York school, this program is for you! All you need to do is fill out your FAFSA. My EFC was pretty high, but they still managed to give me some money.
