  • Scholarship Description
  • The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students studying outside of their home country with their educational expenses. American students studying abroad and international students studying in the U.S. are eligible. Complete the online application and produce a 500-word essay on what your life's goals are and how this scholarship will assist you in attaining them.

    Eligibility:
    -Have been accepted into a college or university in a country outside of his/her home country (home country determined by the issued passport). Those with a green card in the U.S. are not eligible for study in the U.S.
    -Have a U.S. equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited high school and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    -The validation of this GPA must be from a U.S. grading system
    -A TOFEL of 61, or IELTS of 5.5. If you were not required to take the TOFEL or IELTS then you must submit either your SAT or ACT if the applicant is inbound to the US. We realize TOFEL or IELTS may have expired. Upload a copy of the expired document
    -Studying for a minimum of one full year at the university or college
    -Have a Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number at the time of award if not included on the application
    -Write an original 500-word (or less) essay on "Your Life's Goals" and how this scholarship will assist in attaining those goals

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
