  • Scholarship Description
  • NESA academic scholarships are awarded to Eagle Scouts based on school and Scouting participation, academic performance, and financial need. All applicants must meet a minimum SAT or ACT score and apply in their senior year of high school if the board of review is held on or before October 31.

Exception: Eagle Scouts who are currently in their senior year of high school and will not pass the board of review by October 31 may apply during the next scholarship cycle between August 1-October 31 of the following year, even though they may be attending college at that time.

NESA scholarships are not available to students attending community colleges or any of the U.S. military academies because, at these military academies, expenses covered by the NESA scholarships are already paid by the U.S. government.

For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.

The deadline for these scholarships are October 31, not December 31. However, if your eagle board of review is after October 31 of your senior year, you may apply for next year's scholarships.

Student Sends Flirtatious, Then Menacing Emails to Professor

April 3, 2018

by Susan Dutca

A professor at the University of California at Santa Cruz believed she was "unstalkable" up until a student of hers began sending messages that were at first flirtatious and ultimately turned to threats of rape and murder. Much of the #MeToo conversation in higher education revolves around educators who "harass" or "target" students; but some educators themselves actually become vulnerable to harassment by their own students and remain silent out of a sense of guilt, embarrassment, and often the fear of losing their jobs.
