  • Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship promotes the professional and educational needs of the state; increases the number of highly trained and educated professional accountants available to serve the residents of this state; improves the state's business environment and encourage economic development and financial stability; and identifies, recognizes and supports outstanding scholars who plan to pursue careers in accounting.

    Applicants must be classified as residents of Texas who are enrolled at participating public or private, non-profit colleges and universities in Texas (including specified community colleges) and are enrolled at least half-time. Must have completed at least 120 hours of college course work (including at least 15 semester credit hours of accounting) at the beginning of the term in which the award is being made and making satisfactory academic progress.

    Qualified applicants will have not taken the CPA exam, but plan to take the CPA examination in the State of Texas and have submitted an Application of Intent to take the CPA Examination to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy for the purpose of being granted a certificate of "Certified Public Accountant". In response to the NCAA's vote to allow athletes to profit from their names, images and likeness, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina has proposed taxing those scholarships. Senator Burr tweeted: "If college athletes are going to make money off their likenesses while in school, their scholarships should be treated like income. I'll be introducing legislation that subjects scholarships given to athletes who choose to 'cash in' to income taxes." [...]

Gucci Gaffe Results in Green for Grads

Gucci is releasing a new line of... diversity undergraduate scholarships for students who are "traditionally underrepresented in the fashion industry."
