  • Scholarship Description
  • The Grand Rapids Combined Theatre Scholarship Fund was founded in 1985 to award college scholarships to students pursuing study in theatre arts. It is supported by ongoing contributions from individuals in the community, and by annual support from Actor's Theatre, Community Circle Theatre, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Heritage Theatre, Jewish Theatre, Master Arts Theatre and from proceeds from the Grand Awards Event.

    Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or training program with preference being given to theatre arts majors, and must have experience in any Grand Rapids area community theatre venue. Finalists may be contacted for an interview as part of the selection process. The decision made by the panel of judges shall be final and will be based on the information contained in the application, any attached documentation and/or the interview.

A Drexel University Professor who tweeted, "All I want for Christmas is white genocide," recently resigned after a year of "enduring unrelenting harassment and death threats for his controversial tweets." According to Professor Ciccariello-Maher, the tweet was meant to be satirical, stating that white genocide is an "imaginary concept" used by the far right to scare white people. [...]
