  • Scholarship Description
  • Offered exclusively to New Jersey graduating high school seniors, the Janet Logan Daily Foundation Scholarship recognizes students from varying academic backgrounds who have routinely demonstrated maturity and integrity within and beyond the classroom.

    Eligibility:
    -Must be a graduating high school senior from New Jersey enrolling full-time in an accredited university or college within the United States
    -Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, actively participate in at least one extra-curricular activity, and must have worked an average of 30 hours per week during the summer since the age of 16.

    Application: Applicants must complete all 8 sections of the online application form and provide reference where requested. Guidance Counselor verification of the included student information will be mandatory.

    If selected, the recipient must submit a short personal statement illustrating goals, hobbies and educations/career plans, all of which may be showcased on the Janet Logan Daily Foundation website and related media.

    Scholarship fund disbursement will be granted once the recipient provides proof of enrollment in an accredited institution. In order to continue receiving annual award disbursement, recipient must provide proof of employment throughout college (30+ hours per week during summers) and submit and yearly grade transcript (recipient must maintain full-time enrollment status with minimum 2.5 GPA).

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
