  • Scholarship Description
  • The Women's Division of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans is offering scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to young ladies, of Italian heritage, who are graduating at the end of the current school year. The Scholarship award will be presented on April 27 at the Scholarship Benefit Fashion Show and Dinner to be held at the Drury Lane Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois.

    Eligibility:
    -Resident of Illinois
    -At least one parent of the applicant must be of Italian descent
    -Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
    -Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who will be enrolled full-time in a two- or four-year accredited college/university or an accredited vocational/technical school
    -Recipient must be present to accept the award

A controversial immigration debate was canceled this week by a student group at The University of Chicago - a university which "prides itself on protecting free speech, even offensive speech."
