  • Scholarship Description
  • The Watts Humanitarian Scholarship Fund offers a $500 a year award plus laptops to recognize graduating seniors with potential for service and leadership. We believe these qualities are essential to leading a balanced life and would like to aid students who choose to pursue philanthropic endeavors. The WHSF Board of Directors named this scholarship in honor of the late Demetrick C. Watts I, a tireless humanitarian and promoter of academic and athletic achievement. In accordance with his legacy, WHSF wishes to encourage and assist our next generation of humanitarian leaders.

    WHSF will be awarding (1) selected finalist with a $500 cash award and a laptop computer ($1,000 value) and (2) semi-finalist with laptop computers ($500 value each). In addition to the aforementioned awards, all selected awardees will be entitled to one year of personal 1 on 1 mentorship via our "Never Alone" mentorship program and will be assigned one of our award-winning mentors to assist in their commencement year of college.

    Eligibility:
    -Must have a minimum 2.7 GPA
    -Must be a high school senior
    -Must have active involvement in leadership roles in their school/community
    -Preference is given to students with financial need
    -Must live in Los Angeles, Riverside, or San Bernardino County
    -Applicants must write an essay, provide (2) letters of recommendation and transcripts
