  • Scholarship Description
  • Spectrum recruits and provides scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino and Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander students to assist individuals interested in obtaining a graduate degree and leadership positions within the profession and our organization. The aim is to increase the number of racially and ethnically diverse professionals working as leaders in the field of library and information science to best position libraries and institutions at the core of today's culturally-diverse communities.

    Eligibility:
    -Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada
    -Must be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander
    -Must attend an ALA-accredited graduate program in library and information studies or an ALA-recognized NCATE School Library Media program
    -Must be enrolled in an accredited program
    -Applicants may have full or part time status
    -Must be able to meet the requirement to maintain a minimum course load of two classes per semester

these comments make me laugh because they come from ignorance. Its expected for Caucasians to go to college and have easier access to money they are the majority of the population here in America. Caucasians are privileged in America. The minorities in America do not get the same resources or abilities that Caucasians do. That is why there are scholarships like this. So please don't complain about being white in this white America. Thank you.

And if they made a scholarship for Caucasians only it would be hateful and racist, but its ok if they do it for every other race.
