Gloria M.  on 12/28/2020 5:35:06 PM

Hello, My name is Gloria. Like many students here, I'm trying to find help to pay my tuition. I'm currently going to my second year in my nursing program to achieve my goal to become a nurse with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree. I was able to pay my first year from all of my money I saved from currenlty working at a hospital durning a pandemic .Before that, I was an assistant preschool teacher. But sadly, I can't pay for the rest for my 2 1/2 years left and DACA recipients do not qualify for any type of loans without a co-singer or a permeant immigration status. I'm half way there. I can't give everything up because I will become a nurse to help my people and anyone who needs it. Graduating will make me the first in my family and it will make my Mexican parents extremely proud and happy. My current GPA is 3.66 in a virtual "hands on" nursing program. Good Luck everyone!

Gabriela B  on 12/28/2020 4:27:44 PM

This scholarship would be so helpful in paying for my tuition for college. My parents can’t afford to pay for my college because my dad is our only source of income and it provides for the 5 of us in our family. I am undocumented so I cannot file for aid through FAFSA. My parents migrated from Honduras to the U.S. with me as a little girl to provide a better life and future for me. I want to further my career to become a doctor and this scholarship will be helping me achieve my dream.

yari p  on 12/18/2020 10:05:34 PM

I would like to apply to this scholarship and help pay my tuition for school in my nursing program. Thanks.

Daisy Garcia  on 12/17/2020 3:54:08 PM

Any scholarship would significantly help my mother and I further my education. My mother migrated to the U.S. from Mexico when she was a kid, my mother is the most hard working women I know. She has worked so hard to support my sister and I. My sister Nanette Garcia attends Chico State University, I'm currently attending Southern Utah University majoring in Aviation Technology Pro-Pilot Fixed-Wing. As stressed out as I made my mother wonder how she was going to pay for my sisters college + me deciding to go out of state, adding on Flight school is extremely expensive but my mother never discouraged me from chasing my goals and dreams.

Ariadna O  on 12/14/2020 2:51:16 PM

I am happy and grateful to have found this scholarship because I don't know if my FAFSA aid was going to cover all of my tuition for my Freshman year at the University I am hoping to attend in the Fall.

Michael G  on 3/11/2020 10:11:15 PM

I am very thankful for finding this scholarships and the opportunity to apply, my FAFSA aid was not enough to cover my education, my parents don’t have a money to cover for the tuition for me and my twins. Thank you so much

Nely S  on 3/11/2020 10:10:17 PM

I am Mexican and I would love to apply for this scholarship. I want to continue my education to become a Pediatrician. I want this career because I have always wanted to help kids around my community. As I am getting acceptance letters from colleges my parents can't financial pay for all the expenses I will need to succeed. This scholarship will allow me to get one step closer to achieve my goal.

Anngie V.  on 3/8/2020 4:21:14 PM

I was searching for scholarships big or small for the chance of gaining any amount for college. My family can't afford my tuition and we're doing the best we can to find a way to pay for my education. I come from a Latina back round, my father (from Mexico) didn't even make it to middle school, and my mother (from Venezuela) was able to graduate college. I want to show my parents that the sacrifices they have made for my family were worth it. I plan to major in Graphic/Web Design and I would like to open up my own business. I've always been the creative type and I would love to use my skills for my career.

Christopher S  on 2/25/2020 3:42:45 PM

I am very thankful for finding this scholarship and the chance to apply for this opportunity . My Fasfa aid was not enough to cover must of my education. My parents don't have a the money to cover the gap for the tuition.

christopher d  on 2/19/2020 2:15:48 PM

Lizett E  on 2/11/2020 7:01:25 PM

I am interested in applying for a scholarship to help me get into my psychology major. I am first generation Mexican both of my parents being born in Mexico. My goal is to become a substance abuse counselor to help people and the families of these people. My dad himself did struggle with addiction and I want to help people that were in my families position. I don't want my parents to worry of all the costs of college and I want to make them proud.

Jordan L  on 2/10/2020 7:25:08 PM

I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. I was surprised too see a scholarship that could earn me money to help pay for accomplishing my dreams simply for my Puerto Rican heritage. Currently I am planning to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College to play division 2 football.

Maria Martinez  on 2/9/2020 4:41:25 AM

I am grateful to have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to help me obtain my nurse practitioner degree. I am Hispanic, born and raised in the US. My parents are both Mexicans. My goal is to provide much needed health care to our rural area undeserved communities. With a scholarship, it will help alleviate my finances since I have to pay out of pocket for my classes, again thank you for the opportinity.

Beky p  on 2/6/2020 10:31:21 PM

Hello, I am so grateful for this scholarship. I am a Puerto Rican female. I am going to study nursing. I am grateful for this opportunity, I want to achieve my BSN in Nursing, and help the Island of Puerto Rico in their current crisis. I volunteer at a Rehabilitation center for drugs and alcohol, to help the people who are suffering from that sickness. I hope to inspire and touch lives to get rid of the current crisis of drug and alcohol abuse that is currently going on.

Nicholas D  on 2/3/2020 12:35:07 PM

I am proud of my Venezuelan and Puerto Rican heritage and hope to someday become an Engineer and help my people and others in any way I can. I am in need of aid for my university expenses and hope to receive a scholarship from this organization.

kaleb c  on 2/2/2020 1:37:16 PM

My name is Kaleb C and my mom is. very limited on her money after paying bills and raising 4 children. I want to go to college so I wont have to struggle through life like my mom does. It would help me and my mom out so much to get this scholarship. It looks like a scholarship that fits me the most. If accepted I will be the first one to go to college in my immediate family. This would be a dream come true for me.

Nicole C. Campero  on 1/28/2020 11:36:13 AM

I applied for scholarship, to help my mom with expenses to continue my college education. She recently lost her job and worries about being able to support me, now that I have been accepted to transfer to University of Houston in fall 2020.

Natalie P  on 1/20/2020 8:42:37 PM

I just submitted my application. Like everyone, I am nervous about how I will pay for college. This scholarship came across my eye when I came to because it was the only scholarship I found that I felt that I fit in. I hope I win, because this would make my path towards becoming a Judge much easier.

Lauren A R  on 1/20/2020 2:54:03 PM

Thank you very much for this opportunity. I'm really nervous and scared about how I'll be able to pay for college. I've worked really hard to get to where I'm at currently in school. I was born with hearing loss, so having to do the little extra things to get ahead has been instilled in me to succeed. I will continue to work hard to reach my goals. Sincerely...Lauren

juan g  on 1/17/2020 1:02:20 PM

being the first in my family to go to collage feels really weird for me but its the only way i can get a good career that'll allow me to help my mom, even if i don't get this scholarship that's not going to stop me from turning my dreams into reality and i hope this will inspire someone to have the same mind-set.

Nelly R  on 1/16/2020 6:55:57 PM

I am very grateful for this opportunity and I am going to do my best to get to my goals, but I’m a single mother’s daughter that is doing a big effort and works hard so I can become what I have always dreamt about: an attorney. I will be fully devoted and focused on fulfilling this dream.

Eric M  on 1/14/2020 1:00:31 PM

My name is Eric and I am looking forward to attending college this upcoming fall. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about how it is that I am going to pay for school. Seeing that there is a low percentage of Hispanic male college students and coming from a migrant family, I view my attainment of a college education vital for my family and helpful for society in the near future when I hopefully graduate as a Political Science major and hopefully continue to pursue law to help fellow immigrant families in their fight to attain citizenship.

abigail n  on 1/13/2020 4:37:20 PM

Camila R  on 1/8/2020 7:51:36 AM

My name is Camila, I am completely dedicated to going to college and finishing my senior year in High school, I will be the first female to go to college in my family. Applying for a scholarship to help fund my education is a real honor. I am applying for this scholarship because I would be a huge help to be able to help my parents financially. My parents work hard and seem to find me words of comfort in my hard times and get my higher education paid of with a scholarship hopefully with the grace of god, I can win a chance to help me retrieve an education worth the wait. If I win this scholarship I wouldn’t not have to worry about how much my parents have to pay, and I will focus on my career goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.

Carole F  on 1/3/2020 3:49:00 PM

I am 52 and I am registered for some classes for Computer Information Technology. I was adopted as a child from Costa Rica and was kicked out the adopted family's home at the beginning of 11th grade. I fought hard and did graduate High School but I didn't have a chance to got to college after I graduated. All my children have left the house and I am taking this opportunity for myself and am taking the classes while working full time. Thank you so much for your support on my choice to get back to school.

Lusiana M  on 1/2/2020 10:49:03 AM

I am applying for this scholarship because I would be a huge help to be able to help my parents financially. I am a transfer student looking to pursue my dreams. If I win this scholarship it would be a huge help for my parents. I have a brother with a critical heart condition, and it is enough how much my parents have to spend on operations and medications for me. This scholarship would help me not to worry about not having enough money to pay for the next quarter. Now I'll be starting as a freshmen student and it would mean a lot not having to work so much and being able to pay without so much worry. Thank you for the opportunity!

Valerie V  on 11/15/2019 5:29:37 PM

Hello, my name is Valerie and I’m applying for this scholarship because my family and I already struggle enough to pay for our basic needs, paying for college for two daughters who will be college freshmen in the fall of 2020 is too much for their small salary. If I win this scholarship it’ll be a dream come true, my parents will be less stressed about college payments and I would be happy because that’ll mean that I would be given a chance to attend college and I’ll be the first generation in my family to go to college. If I win this scholarship I wouldn’t not have to worry about how much my parents have to pay, I will focus on my career goal of becoming a dentist.

Tyanna G  on 11/14/2019 10:59:06 PM

My name is Tyanna, applying for a scholarship to help fund my education is a real honor. An honor as a First Generation American, that we have the ability to live in a country that gives us a future through education. Coming from a single parent family, we struggle daily to have the 'extras' so many high school students take for granted. I am a 4-year Senior Varsity Cheerleader. My mom & I work really hard to pay the fees for cheerleading and other activities in high school. I have also worked very hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA, taking honors classes for 4 years. I am proud of my achievements and know that it has all been worth it. Without my mom and extended family, school counselors, team members, and others , it would never have been possible. I sometimes talk to myself by saying little sayings like "I am relentless, I can & have to do this for my future." I say these words to myself whenever I get discouraged, overwhelmed and just plain exhausted.

Brianna D  on 11/14/2019 8:49:10 AM

I am applying for this scholarship because I want to be able to help my parents as much as I can by being able to pay for my college. My dream is to be a bilingual elementary teacher. I will be the first in my family to go to college and I want to show my parents and my younger siblings that just because my parents did not go to college, that does not mean that we can not go too. If I win, I will use this money to help me pay for anything related to college. I am very hardworking and driven. Thank you.

Teresa R  on 11/13/2019 11:50:56 AM

Hi, my name is Teresa and this scholarship will help me a lot financially. I will be first generation in my family to go to college and I want to make my mom and younger brother proud. I want my younger brother to look up to me. I am looking forward to go to a 2 year community college first and then transfer to a 4 year after since I am unsure of what I want to major in. When I figure out what I want to do, all this money will go directly to buying school things and only school things. I want to save up as much as a can so I won't struggle later in the future. I hope I win this scholarship. Thank you

Samantha M  on 11/13/2019 7:02:02 AM

Mariah J  on 11/3/2019 7:12:55 AM

Is the scholarship for CA students only ?

Brenda Bran  on 10/30/2019 4:05:27 PM

When you say eligible non-citizen, what does that mean. I know it includes DACA students, but who else does this refer to?

Jasmine P  on 10/30/2019 10:15:57 AM

I am planning to go to college, and I will be the first in my family to go to college. As a hispanic I want to go to school and finish it. I live in a hispanic community where a lot go to college and don't finish school because they could afford the cost of being a student so they needed to drop out. And that's what I am afraid of and I would like that extra effort to stay in school and finish my education.

Danielle C  on 10/6/2019 7:05:39 PM

It is an amazing opportunity for Hispanics. I plan in attending college and as a Latina this is a great thing for us to have a scholarship for Latinos.

Denilyse R  on 10/3/2019 7:18:06 AM

Finally a scholarship for Hispanics! I have racked up on school loans and I am yearning to achieve my PhD in a few years, this would help so much!

Hello, I am a student- athlete and so grateful for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. I am currently a senior (Class of 2020) and am very much looking forward to attending college and setting myself financially so that I can help others. I would be the first in my family to graduate from college. I truly believe that a college education will allow me a better life by giving me more job opportunities, flexibility, and higher pay. I would like to lead by example for my younger cousins and especially the youth in my community, which is 88% Hispanic.

Kevin Velez  on 9/2/2019 4:42:59 PM

I hope this find you doing well. I a 48 year old woman transferring from a Community College to ASU pursuing a Social Work degree. Due to my past experience living a developing Country; i could definitely empathize with those that are vulnerable and had been left behind. It would be a blessing for me to be able to serve others through my education and being able to advocate and give voice to those who cannot talk. Therefore, i am grateful to find out this scholarship is available for people like us, minorities. I am applying a soon as it opens up again. Thx.

Angela J  on 10/29/2018 8:50:19 AM

Hi, my name is Angela Juarez. I am from Colbert County High School in the state of Alabama. I applied for this scholarship for not only that it applies for my race but for the fact that it involves my education and I want to be looked up as a positive role in the American society. Being eligible to apply for this scholarship brings me jubilation to be able to write about how education means a lot to me and how it should be taken seriously rather than throwing it all away when you step out to the real world and this is coming from a Hispanic woman living in the United States all her life. I am currently planning and enrolling a medical internship class for CNAs and getting to where I need as a pediatrician.

Erick H  on 10/17/2018 6:45:26 PM

Raymundo V  on 9/27/2018 1:48:38 PM

My name is Raymundo Varela-Urizar and I am a filmmaking student at my current college in Pennsylvania. When I get my degree, I will be making commercials and ads to be full aware of the struggles of immigration, show my real world problem commercials to government congress and my current city councils, be involved with the Risk communications and be a strong advocate for immigrants, refugees, low-class families and the homeless. No matter if it's being a spokesman, interviewing various people, making or baking food, and making film projects, I know that I will make a difference to make minorities and low income families in better positions. I'm going to change the world! My father did not cross the border just for me to get stopped by money. Money and politics will never stop me from continuing to be successful!

Hello,my name is Fabiana D. and I applied for this scholarship because I'm Latina. I moved here about three years now, from Brazil, and I speak Spanish and Portuguese, however, my family is originally from Venezuela. I am currently a Junior and looking forward to my career as a pediatrician because helping and being around kids is one of my passions. I want to help children because my brother gets sick a lot and kids overall get sick a lot. I want to improve this to help them and to take care of them by taking forward my education into this field. In my family we value education, and it's important to get it. I'm currently trying to pay for my car which is already a lot, so I can attend the University of Toledo which is a long trip from my house and the need for a car is necessary. I cannot depend on my parents who are all the time busy and working, I plan to use this tuition if won, for my career, and I am looking forward to work for my education and study for it.

With this opportunity, I would love to give the favor back to those in need, hopefully in the future. My dream school is Virginia Commonwealth University and thankfully with all the hard work and dedication I got accepted to my dream school. The only problem is that I'm currently aren't able to afford it and due to my parents job their moving out of the country and aren't able to help me financially if I choose to go to community college. I plan on attending school at VCU to become a dentist, it's my dream every since I was little. If you more information about the scholarship please let me know. Best regards Daniela.

I would like to apply for this scholarship because I really want to achieve my dream which is to become a professional clinical psychology. Even though there's a lot of people applying, I would be grateful at least if you guys help me paying my books or a fifty-percent of my term. My father has no enough money to be able to pay my brother and me, neither my mom, who is seriously ill due to chronic arthritis. Your money won't be wasted because I devoted to my classes.

Ana G  on 1/17/2017 3:45:22 PM

I would like to apply for this scholarship so I can obtain a college degree. My husband does not earn enough to pay for my college tuition. I have been desperately searching for a job but all of my applications have been turn down. Employers are looking for people with degrees and experience. Hey, I want to apply for a scholarship is because it's a struggle for my parents to support me with my education. My family is big of seven so it’s hard. Both my parents come from Mexico and they didn’t have the privilege to get their education. So I want to make a change and I want the opportunity to get the education to earn my degree. I have put so much effort into getting my education. I like to study and want the opportunity to earn my degree. This scholarship would mean so much to me to become a forensic Science.

The reason why i am applying for this scholarship is because i see the struggle my parents go through every single day just so my siblings and i can have everything and anything we need. Also my parents have always told me how important school is and even thought they didn't have the opportunity to attend college and get a career that doesn't mean i have an excuse. So getting this scholarship would mean so much to me so i can study and enter into the criminal justice field become a police/ detective.

Last time, we discussed a scholarship for students interested in becoming part of the chicken industry, but even that scholarship is far from the weirdest. There are some scholarships out there that have unusual criteria, to say the least. It may be based on something totally out of your control, like your height or last name. It may be awarded on how much you like a card game, or to whomever comes up with the most creative way to use a household product. It may even be for students interested in… potatoes? No joke, these five scholarships are some of the weirder ones on our site. Are you weird enough to apply? [...]
