  • Scholarship Description
  • The Lynell Oliver Baker Memorial Scholarship was created in 1989 by her friends and family to honor her memory, and to reward the characteristics in others that made Lynell stand out to those who loved her. This scholarship was created to help further the education of special girls like Lynell who excel both academically and athletically, and are actively involved in their school and community.

    This award is open to Graduating females from Suffolk Public High Schools - King's Fork, Lakeland, and Nansemond River - who have been accepted to a college or university for post-secondary study. Winners are selected based on academics, athletic participation, school and community activities, and financial need.
