  • Scholarship Description
  • The Sergeant Major Douglas R. Drum (SGM) Memorial Scholarship was developed to honor the Founder and first National President of The American Military Retirees Association (AMRA). Scholarships are funded by donations to the American Military Retirees Foundation from AMRA members in honor of SGM Douglas R.Drum, whose interest in and passion for education are honored by scholarships awarded in his name. SGM Drum had a sincere appreciation of education; and its use as a tool of transition for our youth and retirees.

    Applicants are divided into two (2) categories:
    -High School Seniors (Incoming College Freshmen) and returning college students (sophomores-seniors)
    -Adult applicants (military retirees/spouses) may apply in the returning college student category

    Identical scholarships are offered for each category - one $5,000, one $2,500 and ten (10) $1,000 scholarships. These scholarships are for students attending two or four-year accredited, degree-granting colleges or universities.
