The Scholarships.com Awkward Back-to-School Photo Contest is open to all U.S. citizens who are either currently enrolled in high school and plan to attend a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution of higher education or currently enrolled in a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution of higher education. Only the individual submitting the photo will be eligible for any awards.
The deadline for submission is September 30, 2014. Winners will be announced in mid-October.
One first-place winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Award money is to be used solely as tuition reimbursement for the winners' own college educations in the fields or majors of their choosing. One second and one third-place winner will be awarded $200 each. All entrants must be currently enrolled in a U.S. high school (grades 9 through 12) or college (undergraduate or graduate). Funds will be paid directly to the student unless the student is under the age of 18; in this case, funds will be paid to the winner’s parent/legal guardian. All winners and their parents/legal guardians must sign affidavits pledging the awarded funds will be put toward the winners’ college educations.

Sponsor reserves the right to terminate this promotion by giving notice as deemed appropriate to Sponsor, on this website, and should such notice be given, the promotion shall terminate at 11:59:59 p.m. (CST) on the seventh day thereafter. Notwithstanding said termination, the prizes will be awarded as set forth in these Official Rules.

Scholarships.com is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, technical error or human error which may occur in the processing of entries and submissions. Scholarships.com assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or alteration of entries. Scholarships.com reserves the rights to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the scholarship, in whole or in part, at any time.
Winners will be selected from all eligible entries. Only those submitting amateur photos via the Scholarships.com Facebook page will be eligible. The odds of winning depend on the quality of each entry and the amount of Facebook comments and likes each finalist earns. All decisions are final. The winners will be notified via email and via Facebook message. If Scholarships.com does not receive a reply to the winner notification announcement sent by email within seven (7) days from the date sent, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected from among the remaining eligible entries. Unless prohibited by law, the winner will be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and a publicity/liability release within two (2) weeks of responding to the notification. Acceptance of the prize constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use the winners' names, cities, states, likenesses and/or voices for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation. Prize award materials and information will be sent to the winners after all required proof and documentation is received.

By entering, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Scholarships.com, which shall be final. All applicable federal, provincial, state and local laws and regulations apply.
Except where prohibited by law, participation constitutes the winners’ consent to Scholarships.com’s use of their names, cities and states of residence and entries for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes in any media, online or offline, without further permission, consent, payment or other consideration, unless prohibited by law. If, for any reason, the promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the promotion, Scholarships.com reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion and to award the grand prize from among all eligible entries received prior to the date of termination. Scholarships.com reserves the right to amend or modify the terms & conditions at any time during the promotion.
