The month of February kicks off Black History Month celebrations! If you're a high school senior of African descent and you are looking for opportunities to help cover the cost of college in the fall, take advantage of these amazing scholarship opportunities with spring deadlines. You can also browse our scholarship directory for a full list of scholarships for Black and African American students.

Although critics argue that Black History should be recognized and taught year-round, organizations and cities across the U.S. reserve the month of February to hold special events and programs intended to celebrate and learn about the contributions, achievements, adversities, and investments of Black and African American history makers who helped shape our country. Many foundations, large and small, designate scholarship programs toward Black and minority students to help ease the financial burden of paying for college, and to help students and families avoid taking out hefty student loans.
