Fear not, though, there are still plenty of scholarships out there that are well worth your time and consideration and we even listed some below; they range from $5,000 to $20,000 and could make quite a large dent in your tuition and other college-related costs next year. With all of them having a December 31st deadline, you still have ten days left to apply!

Enjoy all the cocoa and candy canes and other holiday treats you like, but if you can find time to squeeze a few or even several scholarship applications in during the break, you might just save yourself a very tidy sum of money down the line when you graduate and have to start repaying student loans. Remember, the below examples are just a few examples of the many scholarships that have yet to close for the academic year. Apply early… Apply often!

Our First Amendment Freedoms Art & Essay Contest
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: December 31st

Each year, ADL Midwest invites 6th-12th grade students in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, or Wisconsin to participate… Using a personal example or experience, describe or portray how one of the five freedoms in the First Amendment affects your daily life. This contest is limited to students in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

The Elie Wiesel Prize In Ethics Essay Contest
Amount: $10,000
Deadline: December 31st

The Elie Wiesel Foundation keeps the memory of Elie Wiesel alive through funding programs which reflect his most closely held values. We seek to make his teachings widely available through partnerships and technology. For over 30 years, the Foundation’s mission, rooted in the memory of the Holocaust, has been to combat indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogue and youth-focused programs that promote acceptance, understanding and equality.

5 Strong Scholarship Houston
Amount: $20,000
Deadline: December 31st

The National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program will administer up to 40 master’s degree-level counseling fellowships of $15,000 for addictions counseling students, plus the travel expenses to participate in other program-related trainings. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience in addictions/substance abuse services to one or more of the following: underserved minority communities, child/adolescent and geriatric groups, minority communities in inner cities and rural areas, minority persons (including LGBTQIA2S+), or those who are veterans or are from military families.

NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors
Amount: $15,000
Deadline: December 31st

5 Strong partners with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide promising student leaders with full-tuition scholarships and ongoing mentorship and support from matriculation to graduation. All recipients are required to attend 5 Strong's mandatory bi-monthly college ready prep sessions (February - June). All scholarships are only for 5 Strong Houston's HBCU partners: Langston University, Texas Southern University, Lincoln University, Bennett College, Benedict College, and Fisk University.

Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program
Amount: $10,000
Deadline: December 31st

The Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program is a competitive scholarship for recent high school graduates with a passion for teaching and a history of high academic achievement. Recipients will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years (up to the cost of tuition and fees, room and board, and other approved educational expenses). In exchange, Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars must agree to teach in a West Virginia public school in an area of critical need (math, science, elementary education or special education) for a period of five years after graduating from college.
