There are quite a few myths surrounding scholarships. Perhaps you’ve heard the most common misconception: that scholarships are only meant for graduating high school seniors. Let’s debunk this myth today by connecting you with scholarships created for high school freshmen and up.

You may be wondering, why not just wait until senior year to apply? To start, your senior year is an incredibly busy time. On top of classes, standardized testing, college applications, and extracurriculars, there will also be social events that you won’t want to miss out on. These activities look different for everyone, but they could be football game festivities, homecoming, banquets, or events hosted by your student organizations.

Just think, if you start applying as a high school freshman or sophomore, you will be ahead of the curve and feel less stressed about how you’re going to pay for college.

As you win scholarships over the years, you will begin stacking them, meaning you will have multiple sources of funding for college! $1,000 may not seem like much on its own compared to college costs, but if you win 7 or 8 over the years, it really starts to add up.

If you’re searching for scholarships as a high school junior, you will inevitably come across opportunities for seniors. When this happens, you have two options: find out if you can still apply now (you never know until you ask) OR keep that scholarship on your radar until senior year approaches. Each scholarship program application period tends to open each year, so if you keep your eye on them now, you’ll be more familiar with the requirements and overall process by the time you’re a senior.

Scholarship amounts can range anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars. Check out these high-value scholarships that are accepting applications now!
