Scholarship Description

The Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors from the San Francisco Bay Area who identify as LGBTQ and are pursuing higher education. With scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, the fund aims to reduce barriers for LGBTQ youth—particularly those from underrepresented communities—by providing financial support and fostering academic success. This opportunity is funded by the Bremerman and Lester Mark Scholarships, and awards are paid directly to educational institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduating high school senior from one of the nine Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma)
  • Plans to enroll full-time in college in the Fall
  • In good academic standing
  • Identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the LGBTQ community

Application Process

  1. Visit the Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship webpage to access the application
  2. Complete the scholarship application between April 1st and May 31st
  3. Submit all required materials before the deadline
  4. Final award decisions will be announced in June
